Life and times of eating with the Barrow's: Yogurt Day
http://jjbarrow.blogspot.com/2010/02/yogurt-day.html
Wednesday, February 10, 2010. With all that said, here is the recipe for the yogurt I made. It is an excerpt from Ricki Carroll's "Home Cheese Making". Here's a link to more info on making yogurt. When I was finished, I decided I would use the yogurt maker in the future. Same ingredients just less hands on. The following is the "manual" method. 1 quart any fat percentage organic milk (I used Organic Valley, whole milk). 1/4 cup milk powder, optional (used for thickening). 4 Transfer to glass container, r...

http://jjbarrow.blogspot.com/2009/11/chicken-and-dumplings.html
Wednesday, November 18, 2009. There are some things in life that are just good. Chicken and Dumplings are one of those things. We also had some honey crisp apple free form tarts. Had two couples over for fine wine, fine food, and fine conversation. (I missed taking pix of attendees.) This soirée took place this past Saturday with Yvette Matzek, Roger Remington, Becky and Gary Vaughn. View my complete profile. Link to local businesses in my area. Baron Travel and More.

Life and times of eating with the Barrow's: Peanut Butter Cookies
http://jjbarrow.blogspot.com/2009/11/peanut-butter-cookies.html
Thursday, November 12, 2009. Despite the sunshine outside, I am determined to make some peanut butter cookies. The request comes from James and well he's more than worth it. Besides, it's Thursday, and that means he can take some to work tomorrow for his colleagues. PS I did just come back from a walk and was looking for Gordy our missing Orange and White cat. No luck though. I'll keep trying. November 13, 2009 at 7:57 AM. View my complete profile. Link to local businesses in my area.

Wednesday, November 18, 2009. I cannot say how I would loathe the days when my mother would make this concoction while growing up under her roof. I hated it! View my complete profile. Link to local businesses in my area. Baron Travel and More.

Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Originally uploaded by Abby Lanes. Meet my favorite California fall flower, the Mexican Marigold. I first discovered this plant while visiting "The Living Desert" in Palm Springs. They sell their plants near the exit, and I wanted a plant that would thrive in a California Garden. They told me this plant was a wonderful, flowering plant, and that it was a California native. Posted by Abby Lanes. January 24, 2014 at 3:29 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sunday, January 5, 2014. A Calendar for Growing Flowers in Coastal Southern California. This is the month we sharpen our pruning tools, and get out a good pruning book and study it. Roses and fuchsias especially need pruning. The South Coast Botanic Garden usually schedules pruning demonstrations on Sundays in January and February. If you are planning a garden with edibles, be sure to keep it separate from flowers if you use systemic sprays. Be careful that any sprays you use are safe for edibles. Roses ...
