Saturday, January 26, 2013. Amazing Race Casting Call: Bring Out the Wacky! Wednesday night, partner in crime, Tara, and I headed south in Adorable Truck to Aurora, CO to sit in a cold parking lot and change our futures. Our mission: In 60-seconds, convince the producers of Amazing Race. To at least call us back for a second interview in L.A., all via video tape. We never actually saw a producer, that we knew of. Showed up at midnight, auditions at 10am. Before 200 more people showed up. Of course, it di...

A Backpack Lifestyle: April 2014

Sunday, April 6, 2014. 6-Years Gone by in Guinagourou. During my Peace Corps service ('06-'08) I had a few visitors, a husband and wife, the husband had served 10 years prior and was back to show his wife a piece of what made him the person he became. It was a fantastic visit but I remember thinking, "TEN YEARS? How can you go that long without re-visiting a place this important? I firmly believe my PC service was so enjoyable and I remember it so fondly because I showed up with no expectations. Because ...

Thursday, June 2, 2011. View from the beach at Kenai Backcountry Lodge. For the first time in my three years at Alaska Wildland Adventures. Saw-whet owl, 2nd smallest and CUTE! Pausing only briefly between the Kenai and north training, we danced our safari hats off and headed to Anchorage the next day, seeing the Portage Visitor's Center, Girdwood, and pointing out the all-important R.E.I. On the way to Talkeetna, we were treated to a visit from the Alaska Wild Bird Rehab Center. View my complete profile.

Saturday, October 27, 2012. Net Impact.for whom? It is remarkable to think that I was at this same conference a very short year-ago in Portland. Much has changed and it was gratifying to attribute many of those changes to my MBA program. It's like we're learning. The Cohort 5 and 6 executive members of Colorado State's Net Impact chapter. Headed to Baltimore this year to represent our newly achieved "silver status". Woot! CSU has arrived Baltimore! Sustainable business conference FAIL. Cut to fall 2012&#...

Sunday, October 9, 2011. The man, the myth, the legend! Now where to begin? In true form, it's been almost a month since posting but the good news is we're halfway through the semester, WOOT! Or "I hope you make as much money as that degree title sounds like." I've gotten over the pitying looks. As IF I could do anything to save this world caught in a downward spiral, right? Well, turns out, some of us can. The happy GSSE crew and speakers. Founder of International Development Enterprises. It was a fanta...

A Backpack Lifestyle: February 2014
http://abackpacklifestyle.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 6, 2014. Breaking the Blog Hiatus. I’ve spent the last 6 months on blogging hiatus because, well, truthfully, I’ve was being seduced. Colorado was not an end goal for me. I first came to the state for a person, then for grad school, and finally, came to terms with what everyone else already knew. It had become my home. While I’m incredibly fortunate to have lived the life I have already, it delayed the sense of urgency to make a home that was larger than my backpack. A year ago, 3 othe...

Saturday, June 2, 2012. Me, my MBA, and Obama. And so it began, the fable-ed summer project of Colorado State's MBA in Global Social and Sustainable Enterprise. To fill out.only to discover a crucial gap in our business development. No longer is it acceptable to believe the "green-washing" we are inundated with, by sly marketing campaigns, no more do we believe that progress for the sake of progress is creation without destruction! My team of three has chosen to pursue the Crowdfunding. I blog for me....

Monday, March 4, 2013. Hult Prize recap.or MamaCarts, Onward! One Million Dollars. Food Insecurity. Urban Slums. Go. This is essentially what my brain has been wrapped around since early January. Last October. A few friends and I sat through a breakfast session on the Hult Prize. 8221; Maybe it’s simply leveraging the things that already exist and helping to make the connection. Brainstorming our hearts out! This was a direct challenge from President Clinton. Skyping Lindsay in from Peru. With our amazin...

Monday, January 23, 2012. Fort Collins Lady Ruggers. Sore Every muscle in my body is screaming at me due to the 7-hour rugby camp I elected to attend yesterday. Shout-out to the Glendale Raptors. To add to my awe of Glendale's rugby program, we played at Infinity Park. Right outside the same-name stadium. That's right rugby folk, I said STADIUM! Try-posts, seating, and everything. Seriously, click on the link. There are 70-year olds who run marathons so let's get over ourselves people! Looks like I've ad...

A Backpack Lifestyle: August 2011
http://abackpacklifestyle.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 27, 2011. And my brain is exploding! Since our last meeting readers, there have been some serious changes. So here's the run down; the sad, the happy and the mind-melting future. I had big, huge even, intentions of hiking every trail I've missed in the last two years. Knowing it would be my last summer for a bit, I had some ground to cover! Slaying the mighty sockeye. And our very own Glacier Lodge. Getting a tan in the Kenai Fjords National Park! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I blog for m...
