The 'Border' is situated on the green at Kirk Yetholm, at the end of the Pennine Way. Arthur Wainwright left money here for those who complete the Pennine Way to have a beer. It is just what you expect of a country pub and is popular with locals and caravanners. Last visit February 2011. Abbey Mill, Melrose. Last visit June 2009.

Hazelknowe Restaurant, Ashkirk, Selkirk. This restaurant is at Ashkirk Golf Course. I had heard much praise from friends so I went for lunch. We sat at a table looking out at the golf course and the hills beyond. It was a lovely setting. Then I had macaroni and chips, both also good but I couldn't finish the plateful. The restaurant is nicely set out, with freindly, efficient staff, good coffee and the cheese scones are excellent. They are large, freshly baked on the premises and are light and have the right amount of cheese - well done! At Quinn's, refills of tea are free. I think the scone (huge! Was £2.10.
