We've been settling into our new home, Tony's had some time off work, I've had my 32nd birthday, some happy mail from my friend in Canada and the kids have been poorly. It's been crazy, but mostly fun. I was kindly given some money for my birthday from some of my family, so I put it to good use and bought a Family National Trust. Monday, 2 May 2011.

We are proud to announce that a free bus service will run between Boroughbridge and the show ground. Abel A. KAY, born 1801 Boroughbridge. Yorkshire, shoemaker, with his wife Elizabeth (Nee MARSHALL) emigrated in 1843 with their 8 children to America. They sailed on the Shakespeare, arriving in New York. From there, for the next 3 months, they travelled to the young Chicago via Buffalo and the Great Lakes. Abel bought a farm on just under 94 acres of land in Jefferson County. Edmund WRIGLEY and his wife, Jane Milnes emigrated from Saddleworth. Born 1861 in Philadelphia became the father of chewing gum.

Boroughbridge
Is a small town 13 miles northwest of York in North Yorkshire in England. Until its bypass was built, it was on the main A1 road from London to Edinburgh. The A1 crosses the River Ure there. In 1945 the A1 bridge over the River Ure collapsed under the weight of a heavy transport vehicle carrying an 80-ton steel mill roll housing from Sheffield to Falkirk.
