On Quartz Creek Farm. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Raising the Roof, Greenhouse Part 3. Finally time for the roof, we needed more help at that stage. It was a challenge to get the roof to line up with the wall posts. After the roof was secured it was time for the doors to be hung. Almost finished, just the little things left, like weather stripping, the door latches, but we felt like we accomplished a lot in a day. Links to this post. Sted, and to our relief, passed. On Quartz Creek Farm. Saturday, March 30, 2013. Once in awhile th e yaks have some company in the fiel d s. With them . Turkeys w ith their ba bies. Are a common sight in th e spring . Makes an appearance. From time to time a deer or two will cross the fence line and graze with the yaks, but not usually in the middle of the day.Today several deer decided to dine with the yaks around noon. On Quartz Creek Farm. WHY EAT YAK MEAT? Yak meat is similar in taste to beef, but is a healthy alternative. What are some of the health benefits? Naturally very lean, low in fat. High in omega 3 oils. High in conjugated linolenic acid, CLA, which helps combat cardiovascular diseases by keeping cholesterol in check. Low in palmitic acid (which causes bad cholesterol). Lower than beef in cholesterol, triglycerides, and calories. Twice the protein and half the fat of skinless chicken breast.

Sunday, April 18, 2010. Sunday in the Garden. Andrew and l got up early this morning and went over to our friend's house for a walk in the woods. She has 67 acres and we tromped through a bit of it looking for wild geraniums, ferns and other interesting wildflowers. We were able to find lots of what we were looking for and even some new ones to add to our shade garden of local wild flowers.
