Ron Hoenig MP, Member for Heffron. Former Mayor, City of Botany Bay. Feb 29, 2012. Elevated Mercury Levels at Orica. Embers of the Orica Community Participation and Review Committee recently were given an update on both reported elevated mercury levels at the Orica plant and proposed future steps. I thought it would be of interest to Councillors and our residents for this material to be given wider circulation. This review, we were advised, concluded that the cause was a higher contaminant loading during...

Ron Hoenig MP, Member for Heffron. Former Mayor, City of Botany Bay. Aug 21, 2012. State Treasurer’s announcement of removal of Port Botany cap: Unlawful. He O’Farrell Government has announced the effective sale of Port Botany to the private sector by putting it on the block as a 99 year lease. Whilst privatisation of public facilities may not be in accordance with my political philosophy, the decision is one for the government of the day and not Botany Bay City Council. Ron Hoenig MP, Member for Heffron Former Mayor, City of Botany Bay: Eastlakes Shopping Centre: An outrageous overdevelopment
http://botanybaycitycouncil.blogspot.com/2012/08/eastlakes-shopping-centre-outrageous.html
Ron Hoenig MP, Member for Heffron. Former Mayor, City of Botany Bay. Aug 19, 2012. Eastlakes Shopping Centre: An outrageous overdevelopment. Council has indicated publicly and clearly, and repeatedly, to the developers that it has no objection to the redevelopment of a modern shopping centre for Eastlakes. To say that the existing shopping centre is tired and in urgent need of revitalisation is stating the obvious. What Council did do was that it indicated it would support a Master Planning Proposal, inv...

Ron Hoenig MP, Member for Heffron. Former Mayor, City of Botany Bay. Mar 30, 2012. Don’t normally respond to the political ramblings of my political opponents but the comments of Greens NSW Local Government spokesperson David Shoebridge about the state of democracy in our City demands an answer. In reality, he bags Council and our residents. There is no inherent right to a seat on Council for the Greens if they get just 10% of the vote, a figure Mr Shoebridge himself couldn’t achieve. He is one of those ...

Ron Hoenig MP, Member for Heffron. Former Mayor, City of Botany Bay. Dec 21, 2011. Family Day at the Pool. January, Council will host a special Family Day at the Botany Aquatic Centre. The day will include entertainment for all ages and everything will be included in the entry price to the pool. There has been very little promotion of the pool in recent years but, with the appointment of a Recreational Officer, a program has been initiated to raise the profile of the pool over the summer months.
