Life in a Bottle

Thursday, December 8, 2011. It has been far too long since I posted. I wish I could come up with an excuse for that. Truth is I am getting a bit lazy. In fact, lazy enough to think of an excuse for being lazy. However, I have still been doing my fair share of food exploration thus I now have a painful amount of backlog to clear. To start off after the long hiatus, MoVida will be first to be crossed off the extensive list. And also delineated the scene, I shall save the words for the food. Indeed, I did n...

Life in a Bottle: June 2011

http://bottleboy.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Thursday, June 30, 2011. Kedai Kopi Hock Seng Hin. Today, I discovered another hidden gem in the middle of K.L. city. This time, Pudu. Hock Seng Hin coffee shop. This place is in the middle of Pudu, with its pre-war buildings which are quickly coming apart, but by Malaysian standards still habitable. In fact, the sign was already giving way and had I not know Chinese, the last two letters on the sign would remain a mystery. Blue or white collar, all come to gather. Catfish with black bean sauce. The sauc...

Life in a Bottle: January 2011

http://bottleboy.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 21, 2011. As people around me would know, I have problems completing what I start off. That being said, I am restarting this blog which became defunct sometime in 2008. On a starting note I would like to present several reasons why the blog died off a short while into its lifespan. Firstly, I was then a secondary school student, if that is not convincing enough, in Ipoh. Thirdly, I did not have a camera so my blog was just a wall of text. Posted by Chong Yu Cheng. Life in a Bottle: March 2011

http://bottleboy.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Tuesday, March 29, 2011. I had been looking forward to doing a review of CJ Lunch Bar after having dinner there last Friday so instead of a typical weekday home cooked meal, I decided to take Edwin for dinner. Be warned though, the lunch bar is very hard to find if you do not know the way around Melbourne too well. I would never have found this place if not for Keith's friends who took Keith who took me there. For today, we ordered the beef bulgogi. Not authentic but definitely fantastic. I preferred the...

Life in a Bottle: Happy Birthday, Anthony! (Burmese House)

http://bottleboy.blogspot.com/2011/08/happy-birthday-anthony.html

Tuesday, August 23, 2011. Happy Birthday, Anthony! It was not really Anthony's birthday on Friday, but it was decided that we celebrate on a day convenient for everyone. This time, we went to Burmese House which, of course, serves Burmese food. I was quite intrigued by the idea of Burmese food, having never tried it before. The chicken salad was nothing to shout about either. The roasted chicken was very dry and tough, not surprising as they used breast meat. Definitely not a dish I would pay for. The co...

Life in a Bottle: May 2011

http://bottleboy.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 29, 2011. Bob's Steak and Chop). It is the time of the year again. The day that marks the passing of another year in life. However, the notion of birthdays is starting to make me feel a bit blasé. After twenty of those good days, the significance seems to wane with every passing year. I woke up feeling the same as I did yesterday or the day before. At least the attention is makes it more special than the rest. The women in my life. Crossing the Southern Cross. We walked in and Edwin was alrea...

Carpe diem: Warm Welcome

http://cs92.blogspot.com/2012/03/warm-welcome.html

The 12 hour flight home felt surprisingly short. Most of the way was spent trying to study in a semi-sleep state on the plane in an attempt to readjust to Malaysian local time. Otherwise, it was quite a pleasant flight. I was sat next to a chiropractor from Australia who tried to teach me the brachial plexus on a sick bag. A stark reminder of the weather I can expect here in Malaysia. I think I miss the cooler Cambridge weather already. And here's lunch that Mum cooked:. For now, it's work time! 20 March...

Carpe diem: February 2011

http://cs92.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Benefit of the Doubt. I was going to get down to writing this blog post about an hour ago, but I ended up reading some stranger's Tumblr and I didn't realise that it loaded more posts everytime I reached near the bottom! So I kept scrolling, scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. At some point I decided , " whoa this page is long, I'll stop when I reach the bottom of this page.". Agh 2891 seconds wasted. Daniel Tan shared this Youtube clip of the placebo effect on Facebook:. As an example of placebo buttons.

Carpe diem: Musings

http://cs92.blogspot.com/2012/03/musings.html

I really want to start blogging again. So much has happened since I've begun life in Cambridge. So many experiences, tonnes of work and new challenges. It's all worth chronicling - so that's the plan. First things first, I need to study for my upcoming Social Context of Health and Illness. Ack. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Carpe diem: January 2010

http://cs92.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

A rather uneventful Sunday has strolled in. I had decided to do my usual news update on The Star Online and BBC News. An unusual article caught my eye:. Dead maid in car' case? Apparently, the employing family had called the maid agency to report that their maid was terribly ill. However, when the agent arrived, she was told the maid had died and that she had to arrange the funeral. They then put the body in their car and drove to an undertaker in Kuala Lumpur. Here's a picture of those being arrested:.

Carpe diem: January 2011

http://cs92.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Took a short break from blogging for C4. But now I'm back. It really is quite a commitment to blog but I want to make it a point to post consistently and for an indefinite period of my life. Today, I am going to blog retrospectively starting from this current time. Well, self-discipline dictates that I watch a maximum of one episode a day. This is for fear of finishing the series too quick like I did with Scrubs and then getting really sad because it was all over and I couldn't do anything about it&#...

Carpe diem: If I Were a Duck...

http://cs92.blogspot.com/2012/03/if-i-were-duck.html

If I Were a Duck. I'd definitely want to be an Emma duck. Here at Emmanuel College we love our ducks - they're the happiest, fattest ducks around. They even feature in our college crest:. Credits to Charlie Zou for the amazing pumpkin carving. Anyway, here are more duck pictures that I've taken:. Very fat, no? The ducks seemed completely unfazed by the snow and below zero degrees temperatures. They simply waddled around in the snow and pecked away ice on their side of the pond. 25 March 2012 at 22:37.

Carpe diem: End of Lent Term!

http://cs92.blogspot.com/2012/03/end-of-lent-term.html

End of Lent Term! I'm in there somewhere. Those four fingers peering out are in fact mine. Long awaited celebrations are in order! Well, with some sub-concious restraint for the medics, really. Lent term has been a ridiculously tough term for me. Regardless of what other medics might say, I probably haven't quite been this pushed (academically at least) in my life. Physically, rowing circuits were pretty harsh too. Also, I saw snowfall for the first time ever in my life! 17 March 2012 at 08:28.
