How do I become a good father? | Life After Liquidity
https://lifeafterliquidity.com/2015/03/23/how-do-i-become-a-good-father
Life, post acquisition. How do I become a good father? How the heck did women give birth before modern medicine? As I am writing this post, my wife is in the midst of her 33rd hour of labor. Despite the lack of sleep and physical exhaustion, she still has a remarkably positive attitude and is determined to fight on; what an amazing woman! We’re excited to meet our boy, but he sure is taking his sweet-ass time to enter the building. How do we raise a kind human being? How do we raise a healthy human being?

A blog from two dirtbags on climbing, vandwelling, and enjoying life. 5 Best Android Apps for Dirtbag Climbers. I’ve been getting some great use out of my smartphone this summer, way better than the typical game addictions or newsfeeds. A smartphone is a great tool for climbing and can save lots of money over buying dedicated maps, guidebooks, and other such things. These are my favorite apps on my Android phone right now:. Mountain Project is a website that catalogs climbing routes at areas around the w...

A blog from two dirtbags on climbing, vandwelling, and enjoying life. Monthly Archives: July 2013. After Rachel and I got back to Colorado from DC on June 25, we drove north through Wyoming to climb Grand Teton. We learned our lesson from Long’s Peak that we need to camp as high as possible the day before if we’re going to attempt a technical route on a peak. Our goal was to make it to the Lower Saddle on day 1, then climb the Owen Spalding route. On our summit day. Part of the view from our campsite.

A blog from two dirtbags on climbing, vandwelling, and enjoying life. Van Cooking Part 1: Keeping Foods “Cold”. We did keep a cooler in the van, but we never put ice in it. Instead, the cooler was kind of like our own root cellar, trying to keep foods at a reasonable constant temperature despite the dramatic highs and lows of the day. Of course, not all foods in your fridge can tolerate this. We also limited what we would keep in the cooler long-term. The best-lasting foods in our cooler were:. Berries c...

A blog from two dirtbags on climbing, vandwelling, and enjoying life. Climbing Colorado 14ers: Mount Elbert, Indian Peaks, and Long’s Peak. Since Rachel has been studying for the Washington bar exam, some days I end up on my own. On June 14 I decided to try climbing Pawnee Peak. In the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Pawnee is not a 14er, but it’s still a significant climb. On the trail conditions were no better. There was a ton of snow which made routefinding difficult (sometimes the trail would disappear ...

A blog from two dirtbags on climbing, vandwelling, and enjoying life. Climbing Colorado 14ers: The San Juans. Rachel and I spent a lot of time in Colorado doing two things: rock climbing and climbing 14,000 foot peaks. The first 14ers we attempted were in the San Juans, just before my WFR class. We backpacked into the San Juans on May 30 with lofty goals: climb Wetterhorn Peak and the nearby Matterhorn in a single day on May 31, then on June 1 climb Uncompahgre. We set up camp in between the two. Using o...

Wilderness First Responder | Life Off Route

A blog from two dirtbags on climbing, vandwelling, and enjoying life. From June 2 through June 9 I was at Camp Hale, Colorado taking a Wilderness First Responder course from Apex Mountain School. I’m glad I had the time to take WFR. It was long enough that I was able to actually see my skills improve through the course, so now I’m definitely a better caregiver than before. It would be nice if I never had to use this stuff, but it will be there if I need it. Climbing Colorado 14ers: The San Juans.
