Studio Blog: Picasso and Poussin
http://gregorybottsstudio.blogspot.com/2012/06/picasso-and-poussin.html
Tuesday, June 19, 2012. Interpretation of the Triumph of Pan by Poussin through Picasso . I love this large kind of gesture a bit like big wave surfing. Picasso made a small drawing of this during the liberation of Paris probably as a diversion and celebration. It always reminded me of Guernica whose presence I miss and always visited at MoMA. I just read the biography of Shakespeare by Ackroyd and also mourn for that large world Will characterized as "this woodden, O " of the Globe. Photos Along the Road.

I keep a record of my studio process on this Blog. There are many parts. I t is from these parts which come the larger whole which becomes the work each year. Studio Blog: Best of the summer paintings
http://gregorybottsstudio.blogspot.com/2014/12/best-of-summer-paintings.html
Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Best of the summer paintings. Southern Route is a collective name for these last two seasons of work. It find I am always looking for some "quest object." for the "what" in the paintings of the Landscape. A subject, like the Sunflowers, the Western Tanager, etc. I'm coming to see I was looking more for this figure I painted in the beginning of my career. This figure represents Art itself I guess- with the attendant metaphoric- Sun or - . Theres a lot said there. This was bei...
