Sunday, December 12, 2010. Justin recently returned from a trip to Egypt and visited the garbage areas of Cairo. Coptic Christians who inhabit these communities make their livelihood by sorting through and recycling trash. The photos below are taken of the garbage community of Helwan, a suburb of Cairo and the most impoverished of the garbage districts. Education is needed to break the cycle of poverty. Monday, July 27, 2009. Honeymoon in Costa Rica. While in Manuel Antonio, we went on a zip-line canopy tour and rode horses along the beach. We also took advantage of being newly weds. Every night when eating out, we would make sure the waiter was aware that it was our honeymoon, and would often be given a glass of champagne, desert or a full meal. We were invited by our friends, Nate and Candace Roberts, to visit an orphanage near the village of Narok, about two hours south-west of Nairobi. The Roberts were visiting the orphanage to bring the children Christmas gifts and food supplies; only the second time the children have ever received a Christmas present. Saturday, August 15, 2009. Road Trip; Moving to Virginia. After eight days on the road, we arrived in Virginia Beach. We are uncertain of how long we will stay in Virginia as we continue to wait for a mission's assignment overseas. Saturday, January 17, 2009. New Years in France. After three days in Burgundy, we spent our final two days back in Paris visiting the Orsay Museum and Sainte Chapelle (“Holy Chapel”). Unfortunately though, I do not have many photos to post. Toward the end of our trip, the camera which had nearly all our pictures on it was stolen.
