The Bemidji Speedskating Club practices short track indoors at the Neilson-Reise Ice Arena (next to the curling club) until the end of February ( Map. Practice is held on Sunday afternoons from 4:15 to 5:15 PM. The club has approximately 25 skaters who range in age from 5 to 88. During the winter, the Bemidji Speedskating Club also practices outdoors on a 400 m lake oval on Lake Bemidji. Summer training begins in May. January 7, 2011. Saturday, February 18, 2012. 9:45 AM Arrive at the Bemidji Speedskating Oval, walk around the outer edge of the oval. Fill around the oval, the skaters tell us that it gets really lonely on the back straightaway. 10:00 AM Skaters will start- this is where you should get those cowbells, New Year’s noise makers, and your voices working. While Bemidji State will not be having their Alumni Weekend the same weekend of the marathon. Hotel rooms will. Still be in high demand. As other events like weddings, curling bonspiels, and hockey tournament are always going on. So please reserve your hotel room early, if hotel rooms in Bemidji are full the next nearest hotels to the city are 20 miles away. We have secured block rates for most hotels in the Bemidji area but these rooms can only be held up to three weeks prior to the event. 331 19th St NE.
