Athletic Wannabee's Blog

Sunday, July 28, 2013. Well I never left, just kinda hid out for a while. Not to seek help until I was left with no other option. Since moving to Houston over Xmas 2009, I've participated in a number of adventure races, mountain bike races, half marathons and triathlon. Where most of the races I did in the past were solo, everything I've done since moving have been apart of a group; and while my speed has fallen a bit, the fulfillment is far beyond my best solo effort. I had a pretty good swim today. That's a few swims in a row that I have done the entire workout. I am pretty happy about that. My swim wa...

Thursday, July 31, 2008. Last night Mirelle and I went to our local Vitamin Cottage (a small natural grocery chain based in Colorado). We hadn't been in a while, and in the time we've been away, the store's gone completely bagless. How cool is that? And they're the only Vitamin Cottage store in Colorado that is doing so. Can I just say how great it was to be shopping and notice that every. Since I've been working with emagineGreen. With convenience comes packaging. Often not recyclable. Is a good book...

Athletic Wannabee's Blog: April 2008
http://athleticwannabee.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 30, 2008. No, I'm not Eminem. I'm referring to the 8 painful miles I slogged out today. Wow did this run suck and hurt. Legs definitely hadn't recovered from last night's or this past sunday's run and 3miles into it my legs got heavy. Around mile 5 the quads tightened up and it took every mental thought I had to keep going. Bad runs happen and this was one of em'. Monday, April 28, 2008. Trashed by the Trail. Wow what a run! T, how long is this hill" and "what have I gotten myself into?

Sunday, July 28, 2013. My athletic journey continues, though as stated in the previous post, it is no longer an individual endeavor. This journey includes a group of people that feed me strength and enthusiasm. As such I have created a separate blog for our team purposes, you can find it at teamrecovery-us.blogspot.com. Well I never left, just kinda hid out for a while. Not to seek help until I was left with no other option. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Kingwood, Texas, United States. 2005-08-25 - Fat Tir...

Athletic Wannabee's Blog: Life takes over as race season ends
http://athleticwannabee.blogspot.com/2008/10/life-takes-over-as-race-season-ends.html
Wednesday, October 15, 2008. Life takes over as race season ends. Since this blog is more of a diary, I've tended to let it fall down the priority list. The high from the 1/2 Ironman lasted for a solid couple weeks. It was the culmination of years of training and really exceeded my goals for the year. So I felt ecstatic, I walked taller and beamed w/ a sense of accomplishment. Preview: My first of 3 runs was a 12.85 mile run/hike up and over Georgia. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://athleticwannabee.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 29, 2008. Let the Races Begin! Tis' the season for racing - for me at least. I'm already signed up for more races just this year than I've done up to this point in my life and hoping to fit in at least 2 more races if my plans come together. Everything this year is a warm-up for next year w/ the idea that I can work out those first timer nerves and obvious mistakes. As with anything, practice makes perfect (or at least practice makes me better). Wave B, that's where my Boulder Backroads 1/2...

Friday, March 28, 2008. Good Bye Sgt. Hulka. An army without leaders is like a foot without a big toe. And Sergeant Hulka is always gonna be here to be that big toe for us. I think that we owe a big round of applause to our newest, bestest buddy, and big toe. Sergeant Hulka." - John Winger (Bill Murray). You better hit those bunks my little babies, or Sergeant Hulka with the "big toe" is gonna see how far he can stick it up your ass." - Sgt. Hulka. No, those skills, I haven't a clue. Ok, I feel better, I...

gaiacreative: June 2008
http://gaiacreative.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2008. Way, way past bedtime. We had a really full weekend - saw lots of friends and family, ate lots of yummy food, sampled some delicious wines, and generally just said 'yes' to summer. Mirelle stayed up way past her bedtime Friday, Saturday and. Ross sent me this link. To this great little article about discipline/permission and letting kids be kids. I particularly like this part:. What are some other ways to let our little ones be a little more unhindered? Labels: Day in the Life.
