Tara's 52 Book Challenge: July 2013
http://taralovesbooks.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Tara's 52 Book Challenge. Wednesday, July 3, 2013. Beyond Belief by Jenna Miscavige Hill (CBR-V #28). The saddest part was Jenna's reluctance to leave the church even after her parents got out. It was all she had ever known. The brainwashing they do to these kids is absolutely heartbreaking. They tear apart families so that the children are literally more dependent and loyal to the church than to their own family. Labels: Cannonball Read V. Bowie by Marc Spitz (CBR-V #27). Marc Spitz's biography is an in...

Tara's 52 Book Challenge. Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Banished: Surviving My Years in the Westboro Baptist Church by Lauren Drain with Lisa Pulitzer (CBR-V #23). Labels: Cannonball Read V. Blind Descent by James M. Tabor (CBR-V #22). I decided to pick up this book after reading and enjoying James Tabor's first try at adventure fiction with The Deep Zone. Blind Descent is a non-fiction book that follows two main cave explorers as they try and find the deepest cave on earth. Both caves have the usual dangers ...

Tara's 52 Book Challenge: March 2013

Tara's 52 Book Challenge. Saturday, March 23, 2013. Wool Omnibus by Hugh Howey (CBR-V #13). 5 stars: A favorite! Why did I wait so long to read this book? It was fantastic. It was originally released as a short story (Part 1) and then the next five parts were released as novellas. The entire thing was eventually released as one volume called Wool Onmibus. Who build the silo? Why do the banished cleaners actually clean the lenses? Labels: Cannonball Read V. 4 stars: Very good. Would recommend. The most he...

Tara's 52 Book Challenge: February 2013
http://taralovesbooks.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Tara's 52 Book Challenge. Monday, February 18, 2013. The List by J.A. Konrath (CBR-V #8). 2 stars: Meh. Struggled to get through it/wasn't for me. JA Konrath has written some of my favorite thrillers (Endurance, Trapped, Serial with Blake Crouch), but I've come to the conclusion that I only like his novels that he's written under his pseudonym Jack Kilborn (the above three mentioned books were all written under the pseudonym). The plot sounded awesome! Labels: Cannonball Read V. I loved the circus as a k...

Tara's 52 Book Challenge: February 2015

Tara's 52 Book Challenge. Monday, February 2, 2015. The Great Zoo of China by Matthew Reilly. Disclaimer: I got this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion. The Great Zoo of China doesn't have a super original plot: China figures out (well, more like stumbles upon) how to make real life dragons. So of course they create a giant, no-expense-spared them park and invite some important people to visit and check it out before it opens to the public? But what bothered me the most? Aweso...

Tara's 52 Book Challenge: Before I Die by Jenny Downham (CBR-V #52)
http://taralovesbooks.blogspot.com/2013/12/cannonball-read-v-book-5252-published.html
Tara's 52 Book Challenge. Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Before I Die by Jenny Downham (CBR-V #52). I also was getting a little tired of the romance crap by the end. A good chunk of the book ends up being mushy love sentiments between Tessa and her new "love of her life". Plus, all I'm thinking about is how the heck does she have the energy to have that much sex if she can barely get out of bed towards the end? Overall, this is a pretty solid 2.5 star book. Not terrible, but not that great either.

Tara's 52 Book Challenge: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (CBR-V #49)
http://taralovesbooks.blogspot.com/2013/11/the-great-gatsby-by-f-scott-fitzgerald.html
Tara's 52 Book Challenge. Sunday, November 17, 2013. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (CBR-V #49). On my quest to read more classics, this one was high on the list. Mostly because it's short. It's no secret that I generally don't get into the classics very well for some reason. I usually find them extremely slow and boring. The Great Gatsby. Started out that way, but by the end I was pleasantly surprised. If you don't know the plot ,. Labels: Cannonball Read V. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tara's 52 Book Challenge: October 2013
http://taralovesbooks.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Tara's 52 Book Challenge. Friday, October 25, 2013. The Dark Half by Stephen King (CBR-V #45). Is more of a crime/mystery type book than Stephen King's usual horror. He does throw in some of his trademark supernatural elements though. As usual, King is great at creating characters, but I just couldn't get into this storyline as much as most of his books. It sort of dragged on in parts and the whole thing with the sparrows was just sort of bizarre. Labels: Cannonball Read V. Was the sort of abrupt ending&...

Tara's 52 Book Challenge: Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher (CBR-V #50)
