Going Gringo in the Kitchen | Baja Bound
https://bound4baja.wordpress.com/2013/06/11/going-gringo-in-the-kitchen
Building a Someday I Dream. Going Gringo in the Kitchen. June 11, 2013. Building a Home In Another Country. Living In Another Country. The kitchen starts to take shape…. Sometimes I have to admit I’m truly a gringa. Sure, I watch House Hunters International, and I know people in other countries have different lifestyles. I’ve been in scores of Baja houses, and I’ve seen plenty of awkwardly placed miniature refrigerators and tiny stoves. Finally, we gave in to exhaustion and sent Blake a list of appliance...

Building a Someday I Dream. Life in the Desert. September 1, 2014. Building a Home In Another Country. Living In Another Country. My favorite torote fat with water at the beginning of the dry season. A bright, beautiful oriole. The fruit of the cardon cactus. The cardón cacti also had just borne fruit, several of which were knocked down and partially eaten by birds, while other birds (woodpeckers) drilled for insects in the cactus trunks. Just a distant relative of a raccoon, but exotic to us. Chupacabra...

Building a Someday I Dream. Smut Comes to the East Cape. June 29, 2014. Los Barriles is a quiet, conservative little pueblo with about 2,500 local residents and another 2,500 ex-pats. It’s a place where families have resided for generations, living near each other and often working together every day. Fishing cruisers are often operated by father/son teams. Families are interconnected through marriage, and as is typical in any small town everyone knows everyone else’s business. It seems that some of the ...

Building a Someday I Dream. July 22, 2013. In Building a Home In Another Country. Living In Another Country. El Dia de la Santa Cruz. In mid-May, we received photos from Blake, one of which showed a wooden cross, festooned with crepe paper, atop the fence. It looked a little like the roadside memorials known as descansos. But fortunately, no one had died in front of our house. Instead, the cross marked a holiday, El Día de la Santa Cruz,. Guapo, guarding the open house against vermin. In the beginning, w...

Building a Someday I Dream. August 5, 2013. In Building a Home In Another Country. Living In Another Country. Sunrise over the Sea of Cortez, shot by friend and neighbor Sheila Hughes. Ixchel and Ruben had already bought some electrical and plumbing fixtures; these are in Blake’s hands. Now, he’s buying the remainder and putting a plumber/electrician to work. He fumigated to rid the house of encroaching ants, and had an anti-termite treatment applied to the wood beams over the patio. Click to share on Pi...

My Journey on the mission field in Kabwe, Zambia AFRICA. Welcome friends, old and new, known and unknown! It has been my desire to share with you how the Lord is working in my life as I serve the Lord on the mission field of Kabwe, Zambia. There is an old black and white movie called. It is about a boat that travels down river. This blog is not about a boat. It is however, about my travels on the mission field of Kabwe, Zambia. By the way, did you know that my name means. BOUND FOR AJIJIC
We moved to Mexico in April of 2012. This blog is our story. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My retirement plan is to travel to those places Ive always dreamed of and to settle there for a time to experience what it truly means to live there. To experience both the good and the bad and to work hard at not being a tourist. 8220;Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” – Mark Twain. View my complete profile.

Just another WordPress.com site. Away in a Manger…. It’s been some months since I’ve shared my thoughts on the upcoming spectacle that will be the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. In months past there’s been a flurry of activity around the Caspian Sea; beer sponsors appointed, mobile phone carriers gaining a monopoly, the Crystal Hall being built (and families being evicted to make way for said Hall). Speaking of 800 Euro, that looks to be about the figure for a night’s accommodation in the charming B...

Monday, October 10, 2011. Monday, May 23, 2011. Day 19 - Modesty or a lack thereof. Our time in Goa reminded me of another trip- a trekking weekend that Darren encouraged me to go on- that culminated in a swim party with 25 guys clad in their briefs: exclusively. Aside from taking a dip, visitors could pay their respects at this Hindu temple. You had to wade/swim to get to it. Please note that all devotees seem to have shorts. Thursday, May 19, 2011. Day 20 - Got to Goa. One woman (European, no doubt) dec...

Just another WordPress.com site. Out of the city. January 18, 2011. We made our way out of our “home” in India yesterday. The team boarded a train in the afternoon, and after six hours we made it to our next tourist destination. I just wanted to let everyone know that we’ve made it safely to the next leg of our journey. Everyone is feeling well, and we’re excited to see the next beautiful city. Love you all; see you soon! January 17, 2011. Thus begins our trip home. Let the little children come…. However...
