http://theadventuresofjoshandkayla.blogspot.com/2011/10/comida-dominicana.html
The Adventures of Josh and Kayla. Saturday, October 22, 2011. I FINALLY DID IT! I found a recipe that makes authentic Dominican food just like Josh remembers! POR FREAKING FIN, as we like to say around here. Rather than write the recipes here, I'll send you to Aunt Clara herself. I made the rice authentic style instead of popping it in the rice cooker (and it was pretty darn good! It's under arroz blanco, here: http:/ www.dominicancooking.com/516-arroz-blanco-white-rice.html. My husband said the recipes ...

http://theadventuresofjoshandkayla.blogspot.com/2011/04/digging-at-my-jewish-roots.html
The Adventures of Josh and Kayla. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Digging at my Jewish roots. That means Happy Passover in Hebrew. Tomorrow at sunset is the first official day of Passover and at this time of year, I've decided to learn a little more about my Jewish ancestors. These people came from Turkey, of all places. How'd they get there? Don't Jews come from Israel originally? And the charoseth was found here. 1/2 cup matzah meal. 2 tbsp. oil or schmaltz (melted chicken fat). A little black pepper. For ligh...

http://theadventuresofjoshandkayla.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
The Adventures of Josh and Kayla. Friday, September 17, 2010. Sometime after Christmas, I think, Josh started getting sick and was talking about this amazing tea that people in the Domincan Republic would serve him when he was getting sick. He said there was garlic, lemon and honey in it. Sounds gross, right? So I (bravely) swallowed a gulp. and it was actually really yummy! 3 cloves, halved or 1-1/2 tsp minced garlic. 1/2 cup lemon juice. Photo courtesy of netcharles.com. Saturday, September 11, 2010.

The Adventures of Josh and Kayla. Saturday, October 30, 2010. Our Awesome Halloween Costumes and How I Made Them. There we are: Gru and a minion. How did we do it? Gru's nose: take some foil and shape it into a nose, leaving a bit of an opening at the wider end to shape onto the person who's going to be wearing it. Then cover it in masking tape. Paint it to look like a nose! Ok, so you can't see the mottling very good. Oh well. It's there and it looks good! I tried to put them on just to see how they wor...

The Adventures of Josh and Kayla. Tuesday, February 22, 2011. I'm in the middle of cooking these for the first time and I'm already addicted to the sauce. Good indication? Great deal! 1 1/2 pounds pork spareribs. 1/2 cup packed brown sugar. 1/2 teaspoon celery salt (I used garlic salt). 1Cut ribs ...
