Ben Probert's Music Technology Blog: June 2008

Thursday, June 26, 2008. I recorded a choir that is based in Murray Bridge, consisting of 9 singers and a pianist. I had a microphone and set of headphones for every person, which was a feat in itself. May It Be' MP3 3MB. It was still a great experience, and I look forward to doing a more formal choir recording sometime. Sweet Georgia Brown MP3 1.4MB. Splish Splash MP3 2.2MB. Yesterday MP3 3.3MB. May It Be MP3 3MB. The first song is probably the best mix I've done so far, however if I had more time I wou...

Ben Probert's Music Technology Blog: Forum | Week 9 | Student Presentations III
http://g0tmilk.blogspot.com/2008/10/forum-week-9-student-presentations-ii.html
Thursday, October 09, 2008. Forum Week 9 Student Presentations III. Today the remainder of the 3rd Year students presented to the Music Technology horde. I was first, presenting my failed MaxMSP patch from Semester 1 2007, Fantastical Metal. The patch seemed to work well (in it's own way), but I would have liked to present my SuperCollider patch from last semester so as to round off a 'My Failures' theme. Last was Jake, who played us his SuperCollider patch from last semester. This was a 5.1 chan...

Thursday, September 18, 2008. Forum Week 8 My Favourite Things III. David "Dirty Harry" Harris was back in the driver's seat this week, and steered the bumbling cohort of disenchanted musicians (also known as Mus-Tech Students) towards the insanity of David Lynch. I have seen very little of David Lynch's films, but apparently Eraserhead. Boring. Silence is only funny for so long, then it just gets old. Level Completed by Ben. On Thursday, September 18, 2008. Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Fourm - Week 9 - Masters of Music Technology. Seb Tomczak presented his work on electronics and of course his work in the Milkcrate sesions. Something I have found strange about Milkcrate is the seemingly exclusive invitation list, which (perhaps unintentionally) restricts the attendance to the 2005 graduates. It is unfortunate that such an interesting concept will not be passed on to future generations of EMUers. Level Completed by Ben. On Wednesday, May 28, 2008. Whittington, S...

Saturday, November 17, 2007. Audio Arts Major Project. For more detailed creation information. Overall I am pleased with the result, and it certainly sounds a lot better than the original sounds (success! Level Completed by Ben. On Saturday, November 17, 2007. Creative Computing Major Project. I found a picture of the interface, but it is only the background image without the dials and sliders etc. I'm not going to use 7 MB of upload for something that has probably already been marked, so no MP3. Wednesday, May 05, 2010. Well, I'm back at the Electronic Music Unit after twelve 'glorious' months of Music Education. Now I'm a fully qualified music teacher. I will fail your future children,. So be nice to me. First things first, I'm going to update this page design with something more. formal. As fitting as it is in regards to my Honours topic, I'm sick to death of it and I actually enjoy HTML coding. Yes, you are free to view it as 'just an excuse'. This'd be me if I smoked. Wednesday, September 19, 2007. CC2 - Week 8 - MIDI and MSP. Nothing in Audacity or Peak, the recorder in Max has "unable to access." errors, and I don't have any MIDI input devices for my laptop to do it on there. Grr. Here's the patch etc. Level Completed by Ben. On Wednesday, September 19, 2007. Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Forum - Week 5 - Circuit Bending II. Thursday, July 03, 2008. Creative Computing Major Project. I suppose late is better than never, except at university. My major project for Creative Computing is centred around a concept of environment and weather, in particular rain in a rainforest. In the main composition, the rain that builds up and then subsides was the original concept for the program, and is the main controller of thematic material, namely drums and bass (both natural inhabitants of a rainforest. I meant middle finger. David Cot...
