Flooded woods | [bracketBracket]
https://bracketbracket.wordpress.com/2014/11/16/flooded-woods
Art, text and ideas by Paul Smedberg. That gray band near the top is the near distant river that’s flooded (in May, 2011). So there’s a bunch of vertical reflection in the water which I’ve messed with a bunch, along with the magnification, ‘n’ stuff. By bracketbracket on November 16, 2014. Posted in Photo Remixes. I’ve got work to do | [bracketBracket]
https://bracketbracket.wordpress.com/2015/02/02/ive-got-work-to-do
Art, text and ideas by Paul Smedberg. I’ve got work to do. Then I started procrastinating. Then I started writing a procrastinators’ manifesto. Now I’m reduced to reading random posts. Time for a break. But I’ve got to work. I get up and pace. In and out of the office. Why am I agitated? I can’t remember anybody’s name. I can’t . . . My feet give out. Looking closely at the carpet. With motes of dust slowly settling. Such a beautiful pattern. Seeing through the wall. Like a surprise party.

Considering Food: Muesli: Breakfast Powerhouse
http://consideringfood.blogspot.com/2011/01/muesli-breakfast-powerhouse.html
Perspectives on good food, from anchovies to zaletti. Sunday, January 30, 2011. I’ve eaten cereal and milk for breakfast nearly every day for the past 45 years. As breakfasts go cereal is particularly serviceable, especially when a day’s work lies ahead and I don’t have much time. Preparation is quick and undemanding, and the combination of protein from the milk and carbohydrates from the cereal lays a nutritious foundation for the remainder of the day. There's powerful stuff in that bowl. Broadly speaki...

Considering Food: Zaletti
http://consideringfood.blogspot.com/2010/12/zaletti.html
Perspectives on good food, from anchovies to zaletti. Tuesday, December 7, 2010. I’ve had this recipe for Italian cornmeal cookies, or zaletti, sitting around since last summer when I saw it on David Lebovitz’s site ( www.davidlebovitz.com. In case you’re not familiar with David he is a former pastry chef who worked in the San Francisco area for many years, notably at Chez Panisse. David is now a food writer/bloggist living in Paris (my favorite city! For the other half. Since I essentially made David...
Considering Food: The Case for Anchovies
http://consideringfood.blogspot.com/2011/02/case-for-anchovies.html
Perspectives on good food, from anchovies to zaletti. Thursday, February 10, 2011. The Case for Anchovies. Despite their bad reputation, anchovies still have a place in the American diet. Of course many pizza restaurants offer anchovies as a topping, a tradition that I find encouraging (someone besides me must be ordering them! Anchovies are a primary ingredient in Worcestershire sauce, and part of many restaurant Caesar Salads. Ingredients for Puttanesca Sauce. 1/4 c extra virgin olive oil. Heat oil in ...
Considering Food: Why Not Tea?
http://consideringfood.blogspot.com/p/why-not-tea.html
Perspectives on good food, from anchovies to zaletti. Green tea from a tea bag vs. whole leaf green tea. I pretty much embrace all types of tea: black, green, white, oolong. The last two sessions of the baking class are devoted to making four items without assistance from Chef Dennis or classmates. At the end of the last class, the four items will be presented to the chef and to outside friends and relatives, who are invited to the classroom for a look and tasting before we pack up for the semester. Considering Food: Christmas and Truffles
http://consideringfood.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas-and-truffles.html
Perspectives on good food, from anchovies to zaletti. Friday, December 31, 2010. La Grande Insalata Mista. Our Christmas celebration tends to be small: besides me, there’s only my wife, my 18-year-old son, and my 78-year-old father in attendance. But pleasing the palates and dietary needs of just four people can be difficult, especially when it’s Christmas and you want everyone to be happy. Focaccia topped with rosemary and sage. Chocolate-Dipped Hazelnut Caramel Squares. Sweet and Sour Onions. In additi...
Considering Food: September 2010

Perspectives on good food, from anchovies to zaletti. Thursday, September 30, 2010. Adventures in Baking 101: Baking and Mixing Cakes. Baking class, week six. This week we'll be making two cakes: a basic white butter cake and a genoise. The genoise is a classic French cake leavened only with whipped eggs (i.e. no baking powder or baking soda to help it rise). I’ve never made a genoise and,. Because it’s not a typical American-style cake,. Find the prospect intriguing. The butter cream for the cupcakes.
Considering Food: Evolution of a Foodie
http://consideringfood.blogspot.com/p/evolution-of-foodie.html
Perspectives on good food, from anchovies to zaletti. Evolution of a Foodie. The area was comprised of working-class families from diverse ethnic backgrounds: Black, Latino, Polish, Irish, Dutch, Eastern European, English, Italian, German. Despite this I was not aware of any grand culinary traditions in the area. I guess everyone was trying to be “American.” This was before the explosion of interest in food and food traditions. The real eye-opener for me was that all the food was made from scratch. Le Pe...

Why It's Better. Welcome to BracketBravado™—A Better Way to Play™. He BracketBravado™ wagering system was developed over 25 years ago as a way to bet the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament that employs both head-to-head betting with a league organizer and pooled betting within a league. Unlike the traditional "filling out a bracket" method of playing the Big Dance, the BracketBravado™ system allows players to match wits, employ strategy and make additional wagers throughout the tournament.
