uno dos tres: December 2009
http://jameskesseljr.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 14, 2009. El Fin de un Siglo. I never thought this day would come. And I never thought I'd have mixed feelings about it. Over the past two semesters, I took the literature/history classes known as Spanish 308 and 309, aka the hardest classes in Calvin's Spanish department. And now I know more about classic Spanish literature than I do about the English variety (wishbone doesn't count). Also, our class was very small, so it was a tight-knit group and quite laid back. We share some goo...

uno dos tres: The Perspective of Patience
http://jameskesseljr.blogspot.com/2010/07/perspective-of-patience.html
Sunday, July 25, 2010. The Perspective of Patience. In an effort to catch up with what has been going on in Nashville (Cashville? I will quickly summarize a few significant events (sorry in advance for jumping around). This past week, we went to Daytona Beach for Big Stuf camp with 3000 students. It was a wonderful week, and I will write about that in the next post. Now, to get to the main topic of this post: Patience (I was testing your patience to see if you’d keep reading! That night, there was a fire...

Saturday, August 7, 2010. BigStuf: What's the Big Deal? Woah I leave in two days! That is crazy. Although I am excited to head back to the warm and comfortable mitten state, which contains my family and friends, I will definitely miss this summer with all the great people and experiences. I’m so behind, but there are so many last minute things to do. I plan on writing a reflection on the summer next week, but for now, I will describe the beach week from a few weeks ago. And here is why:. Joined by great ...

uno dos tres: January 2010
http://jameskesseljr.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 23, 2010. I thought I was perfect. But deep down I knew I wasn't. So I hid it. I tried to be perfect. I wanted everyone to think I was perfect. But my world soon began to crumble. Things are out of my control. I'm not who I thought I was. I'm sick and tired of pretending. We're all weary and burdened. We all could use some rest. Jesus came for those who do not have it all together (and are honest about it). He brings new life, the best kind of life. But once we do, we can truly live.

uno dos tres: A Piece of Peace
http://jameskesseljr.blogspot.com/2010/07/piece-of-peace.html
Wednesday, July 14, 2010. A Piece of Peace. To continue the Fruit of the Spirit theme, the next one that we focused on was peace. Ironic. During the week of Vacation Bible School, I developed a cold and did not sleep enough. This carried over into the weekend when some friends came down for a visit. Without being able to rest and recover from the busy week and having to entertain guests all weekend, I was completely drained. And it showed. I needed peace again. As God’s image-bearers in the world, ...

uno dos tres: On Being Joyful and Content
http://jameskesseljr.blogspot.com/2010/07/on-being-joyful-and-content.html
Monday, July 5, 2010. On Being Joyful and Content. I'm ecstatic and my thoughts are uncontrollably sporadic! But they're all centered around one center: Joy.". Each day wears you down. You are always exhausted, and the kids seem to test you and keep you on your toes more and more. You get sick of some of them, and just want to sit down! Unfortunately, I also developed a cold during the week. However, with my focus on joy even in the hard and testing times, I realized how blessed I was that week. I'm just...
