The Cultural Magpie: George Feyer's stamp of approval
http://bradmackay.blogspot.com/2014/09/george-feyers-stamp-of-approval.html
The Cultural Magpie: the blog of writer Brad Mackay. Sunday, 21 September 2014. George Feyer's stamp of approval. The other night I had the pleasure of watching the world premiere of Seth's Dominion. A long-awaited documentary from the NFB about the life and career of Guelph-cartoonist (and my pal) Seth. The doc is great - no superlatives will really do it justice - and I plan on reviewing it here soon. Here's a still from the film featuring Seth's stamps:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Cultural Magpie: the blog of writer Brad Mackay. Thursday, 12 September 2013. Is this the earliest example of Jack Chick's career in comics? This might be the strangest, odd-ball find I've seen in a while - and I've seen my share. While poring through a collection of old Maclean's. Magazines that he recently acquired, cartoonist Seth. Came across this gag cartoon from the May 15, 1949 issue that looks to be done by none other than Jack Chick! He of the notorious fire-and-brimstone Baptist comics.

The Cultural Magpie: the blog of writer Brad Mackay. Thursday, 14 April 2011. Getting dressed by Seth. Contrary to what you may believe, my involvement in The Doug Wright Awards. Is not all parties, showgirls and celebrity hobnobbing. Most of the time it's a lot of grunt work, anxiety and stress. Which is okay. After all, no one was exactly begging me to start up a Canadian comics awards back in 2004. So I can't/shouldn't gripe, right? To a set of buttons. You know, the last time I was told how to dress ...

The Cultural Magpie: the blog of writer Brad Mackay. Sunday, 1 May 2011. Paying For It' review in The Globe and Mail (plus a bit of back-story). My review of Chester Brown's contentious new book, Paying For It. Ran in The Globe and Mail. Saturday. Even though the book just hit shelves, there have already been some great reviews of it including Sean Rogers over at The Walrus. And Tom Spurgeon's at The Comics Reporter. Kind of made sense. After I filed my review I dug up my old issues of YF. Brad, thats pr...

Most of them are from fans or other cartoonists, and harken back to the early 90s hey-day of Doucet's Dirty Plotte. There's a ton of fun stuff here, including postcards to Simon from Marc Bell. 8221;) wh...
