The Rev's Ramblings
http://stoogeman.blogspot.com/2006/06/for-many-years-janice-and-i-have.html
Tuesday, June 06, 2006. For many years, Janice and I have wanted to go over to Temecula, California, for the annual Temecula Valley Balloon and Wine Festival. Problem: We never seemed to figure out the date until after the fact. Speaking of fact(s), here are some balloon facts to jump start some potentially boring conversations today:. Sept 19, 1783 - first hot air balloon launch with a sheep, a duck and a rooster as passengers. It flew for 20 minutes over Paris. Those whacky Frenchmen! Before I Googled ...

The Rev's Ramblings: June 2005
http://stoogeman.blogspot.com/2005_06_01_archive.html
Wednesday, June 29, 2005. Living in California leaves us a continent away from family, particularly my mom and my mother-in-law, neither of whom is in the best of health. Typically I call mom a couple of times a week just to talk (listen! This past week was one of those weeks I had several funerals to attend to, a very busy weekend w/ praise band rehearsal and a full day on Sunday. I simply never had a moment to give mom a call, but something. Thinking I can always take care of it later. When I. Some day...

The Rev's Ramblings: No Comment Needed
http://stoogeman.blogspot.com/2006/06/no-comment-needed.html
Tuesday, June 06, 2006. You get those plain envelopes in the mail that you suspect contain another offer for a credit card with a $50,000 limit, don't you? But every now and then it actually contains a legitimate replacement card for your ATM / Debit VISA. It's very important that you make sure the "replacement" card received actually replaces the card you just shredded! No further comment other than we're awaiting our new ATM cards to go with our new VISA. Posted by Stoogelover @ 6:57 PM. Loving the Sou...

The Rev's Ramblings: September 2005
http://stoogeman.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 30, 2005. I've not finished packing and I'm already missing home. On the other hand, there is that Gibson Guitar Factory in Nashville calling ever so softly. Janice told me tonight I better take a bigger suitcase than I was planning. I asked why? She said, "There's no telling what you'll bring back. You might even come home with another guitar! I like the way she thinks . but that's silly. I would never try to put a new guitar in a suitcase! Until then, behave and GO TO SUNDAY SCHOOL!

Monday, October 31, 2005. Halloween and Hallowed Ground. I wrote this blog last week. This evening (Sunday) our church had an autumn festival and what a crowd we had! Posted by Stoogelover @ 6:43 AM 10 comments. Friday, October 28, 2005. He has drums like I have guitars . or, at least he. Janice, bless her heart, doesn't have much to discard because I spend all our money on instruments! So I'll give her a pass on this one. I need to know there are others out there with this malady . that it's not jus...

The Rev's Ramblings: December 2005
http://stoogeman.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 30, 2005. Looking Back . Looking Forward. Aren't you glad God doesn't give us the ability to see into the future? Instead, he gives us the gift of trusting him not only for blessings, but for strength (and his indwelling presence! To deal with the consequences of a fallen world. Mom in rehab hospital. Prognosis is not very good as each trip to hospital leaves her weaker. Meeting with disgruntled members at church. Always the highlight of a preacher's job. Josh graduates from college ....

The Rev's Ramblings: A Good Kind of Tired
http://stoogeman.blogspot.com/2006/06/good-kind-of-tired.html
Monday, June 05, 2006. A Good Kind of Tired. What a busy weekend! First, we spent the night on a vibrating bed in Siberia. Sort of. Actually, we were in Josh's apartment and he keeps it so cold, Janice shivered all night . providing me a most relaxing vibrating-effect bed. I woke Josh up Saturday telling him we needed to take his mama to the hospital. His eyes popped wide open, "What's wrong? I replied, "She's frozen solid! After spending the morning with Josh in 101 degree heat, Jan and I headed home to...

Wednesday, August 31, 2005. The Nearness of God. One of my favorite authors lately is Dr. John Ortberg, Senior Pastor for the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church near San Francisco. He was an associate pastor for Bill Hybel's Willowcreek. Church for several years and holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary. His writings are excellent . filled with examples from biblical people along with humor that can only come from a clinical psychologist. Behavior; I can cultivate it. Every th...

The Rev's Ramblings: July 2005
http://stoogeman.blogspot.com/2005_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 31, 2005. Saturday was moving day, part 2 for our daughter, Jessica. Part 1 was just before we went down into Mexico on our church mission trip. Part 2 was to have been last week . instead of moving Jessica to Azusa, we moved Muz to her forever home. Knowing it would be a very tiring and demanding day, I decided to start the day by doing something really nice for myself. I would go and get some donuts! We shook hands, asked God's blessings on each other as fellow-believers / ministers and I ...

The Rev's Ramblings
http://stoogeman.blogspot.com/2006/06/welcome-to-june-hard-to-believe-weve.html
Thursday, June 01, 2006. Hard to believe we've entered the 6th month of '06. Seventeen days from now is Father's Day. I'm presently reading a couple of books in the evenings: Tim Russert's Wisdom of Our Fathers: Lessons and Letters from Daughters and Sons. A follow-up to his best-seller, Big Russ and Me. And Karen Spears Zacharias' Hero Mama: A Daughter Remembers the Father She Lost in Vietnam - and the Mother Who Held Her Family Together. A story I think just warm the heart. You be the judge. We tailgat...
