The Worst Survey Ever? | Brain Thing
https://brainthing.wordpress.com/2012/11/28/the-worst-survey-ever
Social and Market Research. The Worst Survey Ever? I recently popped into a branch of one of the main high street banks and couldn’t resist picking up the in-branch service questionnaire. These things are relatively common these days, with every organisation from high street shops to the police asking you to rate the quality of the service you received. This one, though, has issues than most. So the poor presentation and finish of this survey is bound to reflect poorly. 8217; Is the queue experience actu...
Don’t Leave Follow-Up Calls too Long | Brain Thing
https://brainthing.wordpress.com/2010/08/25/follow-up-calls
Social and Market Research. Don’t Leave Follow-Up Calls too Long. In early July I reported a crime to the local police. It wasn’t an emergency so I just used the number for the local station. Today I received a call from a research company acting on behalf of the police force, asking me to rate my experience of reporting the crime. This entry was posted in Social Research. Ethics in Community-Based Participatory Research | Brain Thing
https://brainthing.wordpress.com/2013/04/21/ethics-cbpr
Social and Market Research. Ethics in Community-Based Participatory Research. I recently attended a conference at Durham University’s School of Applied Social Science. Into ethics in community-based participatory research. The day was really enlightening I learned a few things at the conference about ethics and carrying out such research with integrity. First, I learned that sociologists can count well enough to construct the first ten or so numbers in the Fibonacci sequence. There were ambiguities aroun...

Hannah's Blogalong: New Beginnings
http://hannahkidd8.blogspot.com/2012/08/new-beginnings.html
Monday, 27 August 2012. Well its been almost a year since I last blogged and the new beginnings have not stopped coming! In particular, I wanted to discover whether it was possible to develop creative projects without the creative partnership infrastructure of additional staffing time, specialist input and budget for resources! In addition to beginning (and concluding - yey! Sorry Phil but thanks for being so patient on our holiday! And now the new beginnings keep coming as I await the imminent arrival o...

Sunday, 31 July 2011. Time to create -the sequel! Looking back at my previous post, 'Time to create! I'm delighted to realise that I managed to fulfil all of the elements I posted as potential areas of work - and in fact have had a fantastic time doing so, and have learnt a fair amount along the way. No wonder my blog posts have been few and far between this term! The Brighter Sound Practitioner Network - which had its own post in April, is developing nicely! For Woman's Hour on Radio 4 - what a coo for ...
Hannah's Blogalong: February 2011

Sunday, 20 February 2011. David Nash at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Having watched the excellent documentary on Nash, I felt compelled to revisit his exhibition at YSP before it closes on Friday. It is just sooo lovely -and there is so much to see! I've visited a few times over the year and absolutely love the deep connection between his art work and the nature from which he borrows his materials. Doesn't that echo various models of evaluation and reflective practice? I feel a song growing out of that one.

Saturday, 16 April 2011. How often do adults show their working? Ie the process which leads to a complete product/ successful project etc. Increasingly creative practitioners are asked to reflect on their processes which lead to products (without necessarily showing it, although documentation often happens for other reasons) but in primary schools children are regularly asked to show their work. Why? Original photo from Vienna. So now I play with the image. So - I guess that's why we endlessly encourage ...

Monday, 6 June 2011. Hurray for Social Networking Sites and Creative Procrastination! So - why hurray for Social Networking Sites? Well first of all it has been a space for significant support and connection throughout the last few weeks but also it greatly improved the weekend just gone! Wednesday, 6 April 2011. It seems obvious but the temptation as a practitioner is to fill up the diary till you can't see the space from one term to the next but having finished work at Sing Up last week I am LOVING the space to reflect, relate - with impromptu coffees and lunches - well overdue chat that leads to creativity and as a result I can't help but buzz with excitement about the work ahead next term. For that. Tempted to see if we can link into next project at Clitheroe. 3 Marsden Primary - cont...

Oops, I had a brain thingie
Oops, I had a brain thingie. Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Advertisement is something that all companies must work on to some degree. Whether they are selling shoes, life insurance, or comic books, producers need to find a way to get their potential buyers aware of their products. With the advent of television, commercials were born. Man: if your friend has been drinking, then ask for his keys. Drunk man: *refuses to give man his keys*.
