Just another runner finding her way. Chippewa 50k– camping, running and poopin. April 27, 2014. April 28, 2014. Dan did purchase one of these fancy silver hats! TWO LARGE SUPREME PIZZAS PLEASE. I was hungry by the time those pizzas were done and so polished off half of one. It wasn’t even that good. We headed towards the David R. Obey Ice Age Interpretive Center. That was a bad idea. Les drove a little further, before he took Dan’s words into account and turned around. The gas dinged again warning th...

Just another runner finding her way. April 13, 2014. April 17, 2014. Adventure started on Friday with a scramble to finish homework so I wouldn’t have to deal with that when I got home. For some hardcore folks Zumbrothe RACE started on Friday. The 100 milers began at 8am while I was cozy at home typing papers. The hardcore 50 milers started at MIDNIGHT that evening! All I have to say is I bow down in your presence. I have a lot to learn. Altra Lone Peak 1.5. I felt mildly confident when we hit the road.

Just another runner finding her way. July 1, 2014. July 1, 2014. Last night I batted my eyes at my husband and said there’re only a few spots left in Tunnel Hill. The response, of course, was. You know, for my BIRTHDAY! Isn’t that really close to Icebox. Icebox is only a 50k. And I did. And I’m excited. Chalk it up to a trigger finger and hopefully it will be my second 50 mile in 2014 and also make for an amazing birthday memory. Devils Lake Dances with Dirt →. 5 thoughts on “ Trigger Finger. Just another runner finding her way. IceBox 480 Race Report. November 10, 2013. November 10, 2013. I woke up bright and early at 4:30 and scarfed down a cinnamon raison bagel and a spoonful of Skippy peanut butter while attempting not to think about the day ahead. I rubbed on my sore right leg and wondered if it could hold up for even a few miles. Would I embarrass myself? I quickly squashed the thoughts and put all my stuff together which was a good distraction from any negativity. I got my bib and pinn...

Embrace the Heat | nolongernakedrunning
https://nolongernakedrunning.com/2014/07/22/embrace-the-heat
Just another runner finding her way. July 22, 2014. Yesterday was hot. A warning flashed on my weather app exclaiming excessive heat. I didn’t really need the warning. I could feel it. Just walking out the door caused my clothes to cling to me and beads of sweat to form on my head. Temp? 93 with a heat index of 105. It felt kind of like walking through warm soup. I did what any sane person would do and threw on a tank, some shorts and running shoes. It was time to embrace the heat and go for a run. Soon ...

Just another runner finding her way. October 14, 2014. First off the crew report from YT50 is still coming as promised! This blog is a public service message. That’s good right? What does a spot that itches and bleeds and doesn’t heal mean? I was able to find a close-up of my mug I took while running. Nice sweaty photo! The circled spot is the ‘weird spot’. Biopsy bandaid, the red circle is where I had the cryotherapy for actinic keratosis. What the heck is Mohs? 8220;You’ll go blind” “...After it was al...

Just another runner finding her way. December 22, 2014. Anybody who follows this blog has seen it go silent. That is because I haven’t been sure how to write the post that I’m about to write. I’m not afraid of much. I tend to dive into things and if it doesn’t work or I fail, then I brush off and move onor try again. Somewhat recently though something happened that really shook me. While I was running? A seizure robs me of time and robs me of control of my own mind, of my own body. While I’m not sure wha...

Running and eating…eating and running. | nolongernakedrunning
https://nolongernakedrunning.com/2014/05/10/running-and-eatingeating-and-running
Just another runner finding her way. Running and eatingeating and running. May 10, 2014. May 15, 2014. Some runners have stomachs of steel. I’ve seen it. They can shovel in pretty much anything before, during and after running with seemingly no ill effects. My stomach is, shall we say, of the more nervous type. Figuring out what to eat while (and before) running has been a major undertaking with more error than success. I learned a new term when I started running: runners trots. Hold your trotting horses...

Here is a follow up on eating. Running. I may be busted right now, but I’m still capable of reflection! This too became a game of trials with many errors along the way. I first tried fruit snacks because that was what we had in the cupboard. Within 15 minutes it was an emergency. I thought all hope was lost. I ate it 40 minutes...
