My Mimico Maison: Swiss chard - Rhubarb
http://mymimicomaison.blogspot.com/2012/03/swiss-chard-rhubarb.html
Wednesday, 28 March 2012. Swiss chard - Rhubarb. I love these little swiss chard seedlings! They really live up to their name, and look like mini-micro crowns of rhubarb. Hopefully they'll make it to maturity and escape the slugs and snails! This is what they should grow into, courtesy of Mr. Fothergill's seeds. 30 March 2012 at 05:32. They do look like rhubarb! How are you growing them? With a green light? 30 March 2012 at 15:46. Nothing that sophisticated.just on the kitchen windowsill. A Rose is a Rose.

My Mimico Maison: July 2012
http://mymimicomaison.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, 7 July 2012. Summer's lease hath all to short a date.never a truer word was said as far as I'm concerned this year. Things continue to be frantically busy, and with our ongoing rounds of record breaking heatwaves, the garden is progressing through it's seasonal evolution at an accelerated rate! Here's a snapshot of what is going right now.let me know if you think I'm in with a chance for a prize this year! These towering yellow lilies look just wonderful now they are in bloom, but I have also b...

What ho Kew!: Raworth Garden, June
http://whathokew.blogspot.com/2013/06/raworth-garden-june.html
Friday, 7 June 2013. Raworth Garden, June. One of the highlights of my week is cycling up to the Raworth Garden. On Saturday mornings to carry out my gardening duties, at the glorious Twickenham garden that I have previously posted about here. Inexplicably, I am yet to post any highlights from the garden, but during a blisteringly busy day today I was able to snatch a handful of floral images and so it is now time to record some of the Raworth glory! Early summer glory in the Sink Garden. Silene fimbriat...

What ho Hidcote!: Gravetye Manor
http://whathohidcote.blogspot.com/2012/08/gravetye-manor.html
Sunday, 19 August 2012. Last week I completed a placement at Gravetye Manor. The original entrance to the house peers out over the Alpine Meadow, which slopes away to the south and provides a haven for insects and grass snakes. Scenes of abundance to behold in the Flower Garden! The whole garden slopes to the south, so here where it has been levelled the garden ends with a terrace and a ten foot drop to where the Alpine Meadow begins. 8216;Have no patience with bare ground! Plectranthus argentatus, a sal...

What ho Hidcote!: July 2011
http://whathohidcote.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, 30 July 2011. Tomorrow morning I am heading south, as next week I'm completing a placement at Great Dixter. In East Sussex. There is no mention whatsoever of interweb connection on the b&b website, so I will definitely not be updating the old blog in this time! In the interim, here are some early morning images of the gazebos. Cheerio! Recently I spotted a large group of the day-flying Burnet moths. The hurly-burly of the ragwort stem. Another fan of Ragwort is the Cinnabar moth. All the butter...

What ho Hidcote!: December 2011
http://whathohidcote.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 21 December 2011. Autumn is a time for stumbling upon unusual sights in the garden. Bizarre growths begin to suddenly droop from certain plants, in the most conspicuous manner! Has somebody spiked the morning tea with something a bit stronger, or has an art student run amok overnight as part of some modern installation nonsense? The truth is perhaps that plants are weird! Or at least, some of them bear fruit and drop their leaves in the most weirdly wonderful ways! 65279;. Not plastic beads,...

What ho Hidcote!: Fish are jumping
http://whathohidcote.blogspot.com/2012/07/fish-are-jumping.html
Tuesday, 31 July 2012. Good heavens no, you must have misheard me. The heat! I was complaining about the heat! Somewhat stifling, I must say. Excuse me a moment while I fish out my sun hat and pour a large gin and tonic! Early morning in the Old Garden, where the old Lebanon cedar provides a shifting shade. The roses have had a torrid time of it this year, poor things, battered from pillar to post. Actaea simplex though has revelled in the moist conditions, and has been looking utterly marvellous! Late-a...
