How to find us. The building shown here in 1953 was brought to Port Elgin from the Port Albert airport in 1947 and the burning of the mortgage on the building was the highlight of a joyous Legion banquet on Friday, April 24, 1952 at the Queens Hotel. The Canadian Legion of the British Empire Service League received their Charter as Branch 340, Port Elgin, at Ottawa on the 15th day of December 1944. Skip to main content. Sons in Retirement (SIR) Branch 38. Our SIR Branch in San Jose, CA, was founded in 1972. We meet monthly at noon for our luncheon meetings, on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Villages Clubhouse Restaurant. Although most of our members live in the Villages. We have members who do not. We are men who want to renew friendships and make new friends through SIR activities. Having fun is our goal. We have over 150 members in our branch.
