knits of life: PIRATE PARTY
http://ben-christi.blogspot.com/2011/03/pirate-party.html
Tuesday, March 15, 2011. I started imagining this party some time in January. It was sort of a celebration of finally having a house that I could have people over in, using Joachim as my inspiration. That's my acknowledgment that his Birthday party was for me as much as for Joachim. We used the pallets from when the fencing was delivered and some of the sections of fence left by the previous owners. It was one of the things we did together that actually worked out really well because he got to do a l...

http://ben-christi.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Friday, February 18, 2011. I'd thought I'd write more about this, but time doesn't permit me to type out the long rambling entries about my crafting life that I compose laying in bed (probably a good thing). Below is a picture of our "laundry room" before we really started work on the house. The previous owners used it as a bedroom (ick) because of it's size, but it houses our laundry machine so. our laundry room. When we started, it was just a cement floored cave with a leak in the wall. Unfortunately, ...

If it's traditional Russian матрёшки. There's never any shortage to the rando. There is a vendor who sells old US plates! Back in the days of the Mongol invasions, I could see going out and picking. Up a cauldron for the boiling of oil, etc., but what exactly would a tourist want with this thing? How would you get it home, for that matter?

knits of life: November 2011
http://ben-christi.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 23, 2011. The story of this sweater begins with this post. That inspired me to try my first raglan, top-down, seamless sweater. I consulted E Zimmerman and then found a pattern on ravelry. That sweater is not this one, in fact that sweater is no more, (it was for Anna and I wasn't careful about my gauge. again, but more about that one another time, it's already been unraveled and is almost reknit). About half way through that ill fated sweater, Kyire, at Are So Happy. I plan to use th...

Saturday, February 11, 2012. Last year for Christmas two of Joachim's friends made him a shooting star shirt and it's been his favorite shirt all year, the only drawback is that it was white. I told my friend I was thinking about dying it to hide the stains and she sent me home with a jar of blue dye from her cupboard. Here they are stirring the shirt in the dye. Unfortunately the dye also dyed the paint on the stars so we repainted them and added another one for fun and so the shirt was revived. An Autu...
