Educational Programme – Monterey Pre-Primary

Snack time and toilet routine occur during the day, reinforcing healthy eating habits, good manners and an awareness of hygiene and health. Quiet time is for puzzles, co-operative and educational games in the classroom, followed by a story. This is an informal process conducted by the teacher indoors and outdoors, allowing her to work closely with small groups of children to assess and evaluate their development based on the focus for the week. Our School – Monterey Pre-Primary

Our school has 3 age groups. Each class has a qualified pre-primary Teacher. And an Assistant Teacher. Assistant teachers are an integral part of the educational programme and they support the teachers in the classroom and outdoor areas. This provides Monterey with a favourable child/teacher ratio. Our School is open from 07h00 to 18h00 during term time and holidays. Younger group (3 – 4 years) 08h45 to 12h15. Middle group (4 – 5 years) 08h30 to 12h30. Enrol – Monterey Pre-Primary

We invite prospective parents to join our Principal on alternate Wednesdays at 09h00 for the Walk ‘n Talk. Tour of our School. This will give parents the opportunity to enter the classrooms and playground to observe the programmme in progress. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes. Booking is not essential. Preparing Your Child – Monterey Pre-Primary

Each area of Monterey is designed to stimulate the child’s creativity, challenge their curiosity and develop all their perceptual and pre-learning skills. We are aware that with the onset of winter, many parents may experience delays in traffic. However, it is the parent’s responsibility to alter their travel arrangements accordingly. Please note the starting times of morning ring for your child’s class. It is a vital part of their day to be present, but if late they may not enter and disrupt the rest of the class. Aftercare starts at 13:00 when the gates are locked and children may then only be collected from 14:00. The school closes promptly at 18:00.
