The first new 14er attempt of the season! I guess some of us climb for different reasons. After eating at a sketchy pizza hut in walsenburg (one of two choices) we drove on a never ending dirt road to the trailhead. The canyon opened up and provided a great view of blanca, and I snapped a picture right at dusk.

Sunday, July 3, 2011. Mt Princeton as seen from outside Buena Vista. Peak Elevation: 14,197 ft. Elevation Gain: 3,200 ft. Round trip length: 7.0 miles. Route Climbed: From Mt. Princeton Road. Climbed With: Alex Pray, Woody Bailey, Liz Snatchko, Paul Wilson. We started hiking at 3 am. Most of the hike was in the dark but watching the sun rise from 14,000 ft was worth it. Sunday, July 3, 2011. Laplata and the Clouds. Laplata Peak (far right) as seen from Huron Peak. Peak Elevation: 14,336 ft. Elevation Gain: 3,380 ft. Round trip length: 9.0 miles. Route Climbed: Southwest Ridge from Winfield. I had to have someone help me count: My 16th 14er summit! I enjoyed hiking up through the basin, which offered a nice relaxed hike with great photos of Huron Peak. I definitely recommend this route. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Thursday, July 22, 2010. Mt Evans (July 5, 2010). It was somewhat difficult to wake up and drive by my self to climb a mountain that people drive to the top of everyday. Either way, it is a 14er, so I decided to climb this peak on my day off. So I dug up some old CD’s, drank a red bull and headed west. Saturday, June 4, 2011. Our snow preparation: Although we may be overpacking a bit, we will be carrying microspikes, snowshoes, and an ice ax. Be Prepared. So tomorrow we will attempt to summit the snow covered peak. The plan is to start early.
