The Virginian Times: My friend at the Bureau
http://thejungletimes.blogspot.com/2013/02/my-friend-at-bureau.html
Thursday, February 21, 2013. My friend at the Bureau. We love to travel. And being a PWD (Person With Diabetes), I am always excited when I see someone with that tell-tale tubing, another ‘borg’ like me. There’s an instant connection – a shared organ or something like that that just draws me to these other unknown (but soon to be known) PWDs. This Christmas break I took the boys to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to see money being made. It’s pretty cool, btw! And pulled out my pump. 8220;That’...

He fit right in with our Minecraft geeks. The cousins range in all ages now. Here Ben, Samuel and the Buddies are having fun. Since I havent blogged in a while I thought I would make use of my time and blog while I wait. The Schiessers are in VA! They joined us for our monthly family dinner at my brothers home. The Virginian Times: April 2012
http://thejungletimes.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 25, 2012. For our family outing this month we chose Mount Vernon, George Washington's home. The boys don't remember it (we went before moving to China in 2002) and they've done a lot that Mark and I didn't remember too! Here is the link to the official site. It's a very nice place to visit, and has a bit of a different feel to it as it's not. A federal site, it's privately owned and maintained. Http:/ www.mountvernon.org/. Why does Mark look like a pirate you ask? As we walked from the s...

The Virginian Times: Thanksgiving in Florida
http://thejungletimes.blogspot.com/2013/01/thanksgiving-in-florida.html
Sunday, January 06, 2013. Part of Mark's deployment involves me staying very busy - too busy to dwell on the fact that he's gone. Another part is to change situations where I would miss him. Like holidays. So - we went to Florida and had Thanksgiving with Marcus! Here is our route. 15 hours. The boys were super troopers! Jordan was a big help in driving! Our hotel was great. This is the tub in my bedroom. We had a 2 bedroom and full kitchen overlooking a lake. Best part - a WalMart 1/2 a mile away! Our h...

The Virginian Times: October 2012
http://thejungletimes.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 18, 2012. Ben likes to sing while doing dishes. He has better lyrics than Casey. ;). I caught him after like verse 7. ;). Sunday, October 07, 2012. A Walk in the Park - the last of September! We love taking hikes and walks. This walk was on the banks of the Potomac River. Ben noticed some cool nuts. He called these "Monster Nuts." and collected them for acorn wars at home. What does a boy do with "Monster Nuts? Unfortunately, a greyhound is not a very stout cover. Mario, Luigi, Benji.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012. I'm just saying up front. I do NOT like this new format for posting. As you will see, my photos are all out of whack! December was wonderful this year. So very different from last year when Mark was in Afghanistan, Marcus at boot camp, Kelly and Mike at Mom's. This year we were blessed with LOTS of family and friends for the holidays! The buddies have come to love Uncle Mark. Here they are skipping down the harbor with him. Audry loves to cuddle and read Comics with Uncle Mark.

Sunday, November 27, 2011. Okay, Okay. I know I've been remiss. Blah, blah, blah. Apology. Now here we go. We are Loving the fall weather and leaves. My poor neighbors probably think I'm looking into their windows a lot, but really I'm just gazing rapturously at the colors! I took this picture one day when I convinced Jordan to go on a walk with me. Love it! Along with Friday night pizza we decided to start another new tradition. Meatballs on Sunday! They are delish. Soooo good. . I must say, holidays a...

Thursday, February 02, 2012. I asked Ben to wash the strawberries for a smoothie. When faced with overripe spots I told him to just cut them out. Next up were the blueberries. Wednesday, September 28, 2011. This post will have me caught up! Boy, this was less painful than I thought! Hopefully it wasn't too painful for you - to read. :). Some of you may have noticed the new LARGE picture at the top of our newly named blog. That is a picture of Great Falls. A beautiful hike near our home. We had a great Saturday hiking it. I must admit, I like hiking! In Colorado it was pretty tame, well-beaten trails and fairly flat. Here in VA we were traipsing (sp? You can barely see it but l...
