BrCa: Blog on Risk, Cancer, and Anxiety. Second time (doesn’t get easier). I am actually somewhat curious what people who have been there think about this plan. Did you wait on testing? Did you wish you had? Did you wish you hadn’t? 5 Responses to “When to test”. Feed for this Entry. On May 20, 2010. Ok Just realized I rambled a lot there. Please forgive. On May 20, 2010. BrCa: Blog on Risk, Cancer, and Anxiety. If you happen to hit this page because you or someone you know has the BRCA2 2024del5 mutation, please contact me. Ever since I found out my family’s BRCA2 mutation I have been hungry for more information about the mutation. Not simply the generic statistics that have been derived from all BRCA2 mutations combined but detailed cancer types and onset ages for the specific 2024del5 mutation my family has. Why? Myriad Report – Comprehensive BRACAnalysis. I have the s...

Genetic counselling, again | BrCa: Blog on Risk, Cancer, and Anxiety

https://brca2blog.wordpress.com/2014/06/26/genetic-counselling-again

BrCa: Blog on Risk, Cancer, and Anxiety. Genetic counselling, again. The initial part was updating the family history. My part-time hobby in genealogy has been helpful on this part. But realized here that perhaps I should spend some more time on the living relatives rather than tracing the mutation back to my great-great grandfather and beyond. Remember that previous post pondering about how to make life-altering decisions on. So this lead to a bit of discussion on the methodology of the Myriad quoted st...

First Screening Appointment | BrCa: Blog on Risk, Cancer, and Anxiety

https://brca2blog.wordpress.com/2010/05/25/first-screening-appointment

BrCa: Blog on Risk, Cancer, and Anxiety. What doesn’t kill you…. I just got back from my first screening appointment at the cancer clinic. Today has been my litmus test to how well I can handle walking into the cancer clinic and wait for a doctor to give me a professional assessment of my health. When I first moved here, I didn’t really expect that I was going to find myself on a 6-month rolling appointment schedule with them. But anyways, I am not going complain about the 5-minute bike ride. Now I know ...

cut the b*tches off: my ass hurts

http://cutthebtchesoff.blogspot.com/2011/07/my-ass-hurts.html

Cut the b*tches off. Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Ouch I've been sitting on my ass for three days now. Ever since I broke my leg on sunday. Yeah I broke my fucking leg. How? I went biking twice last week and that would have made a better story. I played wii, watched tons of stuff on netflix, wrote in my journal, made some phone calls, read, colored and played computer games. That was all on the first day. Now what? So how did it happen? Cut the b*tches off. Wednesday, October 12, 2011. New girls on the block. Too be honest, I'm getting a little tired of this blog. But I want to keep sharing for a little while longer, for those of you whom are contemplating the flat side of life. There are plenty of blogs out there that talk about reconstruction but not so many for the unconstructed. What's life like without breasts? The other day, I was surprised how excited I was! Cut the b*tches off. Sunday, July 17, 2011. I am the lucky one. I have worn a helmet ever since). And the third was the bank robbery. Woman on my left killed, man on my right shot. I walked away with a bandaid. Who is to say whose pain or suffering is worse than another's anyway? That some of you may find inspiring or help you justify your surgery decisions to others. And hugs to all of you going through something difficult. July 19, 2011 at 9:12 AM. July 19, 2011 at 8:14 PM. July 21, 2011 at 4:03 AM.

http://cutthebtchesoff.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Cut the b*tches off. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. That's just the way it goes. Got the call from substitute radiologist with my results. He started off blabbing on about atypical cells and I was a bit relieved thinking that was all I had. But he kept talking in circles and was mentioning dcis and I finally cut him off and said "are you saying it's dcis? Still holding out hope that maybe I just had some atypical cells. But she said yes, medium grade dcis and 3 pathologists signed off on it so not muc...

Cut the b*tches off. Friday, September 23, 2011. If you can't outrun it, overthrow it. I heard some statistics on the news the other day: 1 in 2 American males and 1 in 3 American females will get some form of cancer at some point in life. And 1 American dies every minute from cancer. Odds are great that you or someone in your family has/had or will have cancer. Sounds pretty hopeless doesn't it? So what are we supposed to do with this information? 2 Love Your Loved Ones. http://cutthebtchesoff.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Cut the b*tches off. Monday, April 25, 2011. How did you make yourself get out of bed that morning and get your legs to move you out the door and all the way to the hospital? How did you force your way through the doors and past the receptionist, the waiting room and into pre-op? How did you keep yourself from ripping off the iv and jumping off the table and running until you couldn't run anymore? No Always more surprised than not when nothing was found. Was I being paranoid? BRCA1 Journey: A Preemptive Battle |

BRCA1 Journey: A Preemptive Battle. BRCA1 Positive in Denver, Colorado. I typically don’t write about my personal life here. But something has recently happened to me that I realized I wanted to share. I wanted people to know about this more than I wanted to keep it to myself and pretend all was well and everything was normal. Surprisingly, my insurance paid for it. All of it. Every cent of the four-thousand-dollar fee for this test. It wasn’t if, but when. Before it even happened to me. In a few days, I...

BRCA POSITIVE

Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Today was Black Friday.I am three weeks post op. I have had one fill. I found a dress. I loved this dress. Even my little S loved it and she is our fashionista. So I decide to try it on first before buying simply because the price was hard for me to swallow. I loved it though. I get the dress on. I have a flabby abs but rock solid pecks. Kind of funny I have always strive to be different so having pecks instead of abs is no surprise. Posted by Dunstan Family. I did get depress...

LL's Itty Bitty BRCA Blog | One Girl's Journey on the Mutation Express

LL's Itty Bitty BRCA Blog. One Girl's Journey on the Mutation Express. January 7, 2014. We are born with breasts. Really just nipples on flesh. We grow and they grow. Young girls check each other’s. BrCa: Blog on Risk, Cancer, and Anxiety | Personal perspective on hereditary breast and ovarian cancer

BrCa: Blog on Risk, Cancer, and Anxiety. My cousin this year made it her new year’s resolution to face her risk for BRCA2 and get tested. Good that she did, because she found out she was negative for the mutation. That said, seems like a good time to share the following notice from my email:. This initiative will offer free breast and ovarian cancer genetic testing to all 30-year-old women in the Madison/Huntsville community. The test kits will test for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, as well as 21 others.
