Breaking the Fourth Wall: Best of 2008
http://breakingfourth.blogspot.com/2008/12/best-of-2008.html
Breaking the Fourth Wall. My personal "asides" about the books I've read. Monday, December 29, 2008. Below is my list of Books Read in 2008. It was a very unusual year for me. Usually a strict fiction lover, this year I read 23 non-fiction books and 37 fiction books for a total of 60 books. So why are there still 108 books on my To Be Read pile? Best Fiction Read: Tie between "Zoli" and "The Commoner". Best Non-Fiction Read: "The Zen of Eating". Best Guilty Pleasure: "The Twilight Series". Yoga and the Q...
Breaking the Fourth Wall: Books of 2007
http://breakingfourth.blogspot.com/2008/01/books-of-2007.html
Breaking the Fourth Wall. My personal "asides" about the books I've read. Tuesday, January 1, 2008. Ok, I don't have time for a fancy list with links to all my reviews. I'm just going to post my completed reading list for 2007 here so I can start a 2008 reading list on my sidebar. In 2007, I read 66 books - 15 non-fiction, 51 fiction. As usual, before the list, here's my dubious awards:. Best Book of the Year, hands down: The Book Thief. Worst Book of the Year, hands down: The Inheritance of Loss. Beasts...
Breaking the Fourth Wall: Mid-month Book Reviews
http://breakingfourth.blogspot.com/2009/11/mid-month-book-reviews.html
Breaking the Fourth Wall. My personal "asides" about the books I've read. Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Dreamers of the Day. Incredible. This book is a fictional account of the Cairo Conference of 1921, something that has been written little about, but shaped the modern Middle East, to a large degree. Our main character is a "nobody" who falls in with the likes of Lawrence of Arabia and Winston Churchill. It's really fascinating, and despite the heavy subject matter, an easy and enjoyable read. Hey thanks ...

Derring-Do: Shaking Off The Dust
http://derrrringdo.blogspot.com/2011/03/shaking-off-dust.html
Friday, March 25, 2011. Shaking Off The Dust. It's been a year since I last wrote. A year. Wow- -that's hard to believe. I don't know what happened really. Did the short bursts of Facebook become the new tempo? I don't even read any blogs anymore; rarely even check to see if someone ELSE has anything new to say. Seems like I'm not the only one who fell off the blog wagon. And I may not really be getting back on. We'll have to see. I could be magnanimous and volunteer and do for the good of others. Th...

Derring-Do: Balloon Boy Attic Boy Pretending Boy
http://derrrringdo.blogspot.com/2009/10/balloon-boy-attic-boy-pretending-boy.html
Sunday, October 18, 2009. Balloon Boy Attic Boy Pretending Boy. It's always disappointing when you find out you've been duped. I refer to Balloon Boy. Referred to.but like Bill Maher said, maybe he should be called Attic Boy. But then the sheriff even said- -who knows where he was. He could've been down the street on a swing in the park. It's rather pathetic on so many levels, but to me the worst two are:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 40s are the new 20s. Well, maybe 30s. View my complete profile.
Derring-Do: HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my first baby
http://derrrringdo.blogspot.com/2010/03/happy-birthday-to-my-first-baby.html
Tuesday, March 9, 2010. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my first baby. Can't believe my oldest child, my first child, is no longer a teenager! Twenty years old today. In so many ways, it seems like a long long ago time when he was little and we navigated through those early days. But in so many other ways, the time has flown and all of those years are gone now in just a blink. It's a whole new round of experiences. I'm hoping they'll be the roaring 20s for you- -you've turned into a fine young man. Meet me over there.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010. On a more cheerful tone -. My second Mangalacharan class today. sort of enjoyed it, but I was nervous. Well, I think I was. Suddenly it was hard to concentrate and I couldn't pick up the steps as fast as (I'm sure) I could have. My teacher remarked that I look 'lost'. Maybe I was. The happiest I have been in, say, the last six months was my three days in Sharada's house. I told her that and I remember her chuckling. Why, she asked, it's a very pedestrian life! The Odd Duck,.
