Wandering and Wondering: Ferris Bueller Philosphy and Graduation
http://musingsfrommara.blogspot.com/2015/06/ferris-bueller-philosphy-and-graduation.html
June 14, 2015. Ferris Bueller Philosphy and Graduation. Ferris Bueller's Day Off! Most likely we have all quoted it at one time or another."Bueller? You killed the car! Might have missed an "I'll go" or two! My oldest granddaughter graduated high school last week. Her class motto was taken directly from the movie. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.". Opening the graduation program to see the words Ferris Bueller's Day Off. To Kill A Mockingbird.

Wandering and Wondering: April 2015
http://musingsfrommara.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
April 29, 2015. Our little commune is blossoming. If you drive by the house, you might observe little bubbles of joy popping out of the chimney or escaping from open windows. The laughter is contagious and inspiring. There seems to be a subtle contest being waged on who can create the tastiest dessert. It started with my husband sneaking into the kitchen one evening after NCIS and baking the absolute best brownies in the world (no, not that kind of brownie! Chocolate frosting was added. Now, I am not a f...

Wandering and Wondering: May 2015
http://musingsfrommara.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
May 31, 2015. Walking In Their Shoes. We watched Adam Sandler's movie, The Cobbler this evening. Not your typical Sandler nasty-slapstick! The cobbler stumbles on an old machine in the basement of his shop to re-sole a pair of shoes because his modern machine breaks. He tries the repaired shoes on and mysteriously and magically turns into the owner of the shoes. It's still the cobbler on the inside, his virtues and integrity, only his physical appearance changes. Keeping in the realm of government, donni...

Wandering and Wondering: Whiskeytown Hike
http://musingsfrommara.blogspot.com/2015/06/whiskeytown-hike.html
June 15, 2015. The temps shot from hot to hotter yesterday. Three digits by 11 am. I was peacefully splayed out on the bed under the ceiling fan contemplating a dive into the pool. My husband, bless his heart, comes in to suggest a drive to get out of the house. OUT OF THE HOUSE! It is 76 inside these walls and a hellish 106 outside. I wouldn't even consider jogging out to the car to retrieve the who-done-it book I have invested hours in and the murderer is just about to be outed! No, we kept driving.

Wandering and Wondering: August 2015
http://musingsfrommara.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
August 22, 2015. A very interesting word. My go-to friend, Dictionary.com, lists the top four definitions in spatial terms. For the purposes of this post we are going to jump right over the physical aspects and jump into the reasoning/reflective definitions. They are:. Dictionary.com ( Hi, again, friend) defines the adjective aspect of 'understanding' as. You see, the way it happens is, when women are raised in a society that devalues them, they don't value themselves or other women. 2 The bible does not...

Wandering and Wondering: "God, Don't Teach Me Nothing Today!"
http://musingsfrommara.blogspot.com/2015/07/god-dont-teach-me-nothing-today.html
July 23, 2015. God, Don't Teach Me Nothing Today! Have you heard of the Cascadia Subduction Zone? Apparently, the biggest, most powerful (therefore threatening) zones of the Pacific Ring of Fire. The devastating earthquake is predicted to kill 11,000 which is miniscule compared to the damage to human life and nature that the following tsunami will cause. The average time between shakes is approximately every 298 years or so. We have passed the average by some 75 years. What about the baby.". YOU DON'T KN...

Wandering and Wondering: February 2015
http://musingsfrommara.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
February 26, 2015. My cousin shared a link on Facebook this morning to the article below. As I read the article, I realized that some of these "alpha women" items are almost the opposite of what I was taught growing up. I just had to share.the universe demanded it! The original post is on Thought Catalog. There’s a quote by Laurel Thatcher Ulrich that states: “ Well-behaved women seldom make history. 1 They cultivate a life they actually enjoy. 2 They make their move. 5 They don’t waste time wishing.

Wandering and Wondering: A Confession
http://musingsfrommara.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-confession.html
August 01, 2015. I am a liar. I'm a really good liar! My mom taught me how to lie. In fact, my mother taught me to live a lie. She also taught me how to drive, how to fry chicken, how to crochet, to sew and that I was extremely damaged. She taught me to be ashamed of the truth and hide the true-me. He taught me other stuff, too, and continues to teach me to this day but he could never counter my mom's lessons on my brokenness. We learned to be afraid of the truth. We learned that 'we' weren't enough.
