Map GAC as Drive Letter. Rather than disabling GAC Fusion from the registry in order to access the GAC as a directory, you can simply substitute a drive letter to point to the GAC which will provide the same capability without having to fiddle with the registy. Simply create a .bat file with the following command:. Subst X: C: Windows Assembly. You can then create a scheduled task that runs whenever you login so that this drive is always mapped and available.
