Bradley Wright's Blog: Social selection and social causation
http://brewright.blogspot.com/2008/01/social-selection-and-social-causation.html
Christianity, academia, and whatever else I happen to be thinking about. Wednesday, January 23, 2008. Social selection and social causation. Some of the most interesting puzzles for sociologists have to do with differences between groups of people, and two common explanations for social differences are “social selection” and “social causation.” They apply to a remarkably wide range of phenomenon, and they are kind of interesting to think about. How do we interpret this difference? As such, the correlatio...

Bradley Wright's Blog: A radio interview for my book, Upside
http://brewright.blogspot.com/2011/08/radio-interview-for-my-book-upside.html
Christianity, academia, and whatever else I happen to be thinking about. Tuesday, August 09, 2011. A radio interview for my book, Upside. Something that I've learned writing books is that there are lot of Christian radio shows that like to interview authors. It's kind of fun having someone talk with me about my search for 10-60 minutes, and a surprising high number of the hosts seem to have read the book, and they ask rather thoughtful questions. Here's the link for the show. Hope you enjoyed Toronto.

Bradley Wright's Blog: Christian Smith on religious pluralism
http://brewright.blogspot.com/2011/09/christian-smith-on-religious-pluralism.html
Christianity, academia, and whatever else I happen to be thinking about. Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Christian Smith on religious pluralism. Christian Smith has a wonderful op-ed. On the Huffington Post. He makes a strong case for "authentic pluralism"- avoiding both sectarian conflict on one side and what he terms "liberal whateverism" on the other. Here is part of his conclusion:. This is all many of us seek. And the whateverism phrase is cool too. Thanks for the post! 12:18 AM, September 21, 2011.

In it, we "share our observations and research and reflect on its meaning for Christian faith and practice.". The name of the blog is Black, White, and Gray. Scott Mc...

Bradley Wright's Blog: Goodbye, Ervin Tackman
http://brewright.blogspot.com/2011/07/goodbye-ervin-tackman.html
Christianity, academia, and whatever else I happen to be thinking about. Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Goodbye, Ervin Tackman. Last night one of my favorite people in the world died. Ervin Tackman was my father-in-law (Cathy’s stepfather), and he was an Iowa farmer, a hard worker, a provider, and a great grandfather. It took several days, but he got the job done. On another visit, he was doing some digging and came across a large buried rock in his way (yes, this New England). Me? Erv only had an eighth-grad...
