Journee's Critters: November 2011
http://journeescritters.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Things have been going pretty good here, though nothing new has really happened. I could talk for quite sometime about how the riding has been going- -though I'm sure most of you, if not all of you, wouldn't care to miss that, so I'll leave that out until something really astounding happens. Speaking of astounding, I got a Facebook. Yup, intense stuff in that boat. At least the dogs are tired anyway, it's a hard life hiding from our big, wily mongrels. ;). Hello, my name's Journee. My favorite color is b...

Journee's Critters: September 2011
http://journeescritters.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
I quickly candled the Marans eggs this morning, and found a couple clear ones! Clear as in not fertile. Two of the clear eggs are out of my three. Black copper marans eggs! I'm hoping that the breeder will ship out some replacements free of charge, but we'll see. Half the egg is open, and not because of the air-sac, which are normally-sized in all other eggs. This is not uncommon, I've seen it before- -even in clutches hatched by brooding hens. It's just a very small little baby, which could be b...The f...

Hello, my name's Journee. I live in the South, and love chickens, dogs, horses, Halo, haunted houses, fiction, and the TV show Psych. Not your typical "teenage" girl, I only dress-up for weddings, funerals, and fine steakhouses. None of which I've ever been to! I'm a member of Civil Air Patrol. Welcome to my Blog :). All c...

Journee's Critters: An Update on Perry the Duck
http://journeescritters.blogspot.com/2011/12/update-on-perry-duck.html
An Update on Perry the Duck. Just this evening, I gave Perry the Duck an injection of penicillin as the next stage in his treatment. After my parents got home on the day I found him, I soon located his wound. He has a tear in his right wing. It looks to me like a small predator, a cat maybe, caught him around the front of his wing, behind the wrist. And he jerked away, tearing the soft membrane between the. I've tried hand-feeding him, and just plunging his bill into the food, and while the latter method...

Journee's Critters: Short Stories
http://journeescritters.blogspot.com/2012/01/short-stories.html
How the Sun got its Flame. There was a time, in ancient past, when there was no sun. In the beginning, there were two moons- -the moon of the night, Fain, and the dead moon, called Sol. The moon Fain was revered as the deity that made life possible, but Sol was useless, and was looked upon as a dark hole in the sky, visible only during “day”, because Fain dominated the sky at all other times. His warriors succeeded in destroying all of the Western dragons, because even though they were being murdered, th...

Journee's Critters: August 2011
http://journeescritters.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
For fun, Quinn and I have started a roleplay for the two of us to share; in this roleplay we have taken the long and rather intricate story we played out years ago in LEGOs and have started it over- -with a few changes, I admit, because some of the characters and ideas we had were very silly! We haven't gotten very far, and probably won't, because I quickly run out of writing ideas, and Quinn doesn't like reading everything I do. The young man had traveled for three months, braving untamed wilderness, to...

Journee's Critters: December 2011

My sweet girl, she is so dignified. Thought to be short for "Canterbury gallop". The western word for canter is the "lope". Beat, the horse shifts itself onto the left fore leg while the diagonal pair is momentarily still in contact with the ground, then, the horse rolls forward off the left fore, and is suspended briefly in the air while the right hind comes up behind to touch down again, repeating the cycle. Around the turn, which helps their gait remain smooth and balanced. This is especially impo...

Journee's Critters: July 2011

Yeah, so Quinn and I are in Arkansas, staying at our cousins' house, with Grandma and the "girls! We got here Friday, after staying one evening at Grandma's house, and had a very nice, smooth trip, during which the dogs slept the whole while, and so did Quinn. I mostly sat there, and sang to some nice classic country. "A Boy Named Sue", was one of the more entertaining tunes. So far, we're just having a ball. It's a very special trip, because everybody. The previous evening, we had gone swimming. I've go...
