Thirty-Sixth International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts. Recently my wife and I attended the Thirty-Six annual International Conference on the Fantastic in the Arts. This was our second visit. The highlight was seeing our son Mark deliver his talk entitled "Separating The Signal From the Noise: Joseph Weber's Search for Gravity Waves and Gregory Benford's Timescape." A job well done, Mark! Brian Bittner - Carnegie Mellon University. BOTLER was entered as a submission in the 2014 Build18 Competition at CMU. For the competition the robot butler used a Kinect to sense and plan. The iRobot Create base allowed for basic locomotion. In Introduction to Robotics, my team implemented a variety of autonomous capabilities for an NXT Lego Robot. These included deduced reckoning, trajectory following, planning, and localiz-ation using dispersed landmarks.
