My study in distraction

Sunday, October 25, 2009. This weekend was the inaugural installment of Cornell Cycling's "Red Cross" cyclocross race and it was a huge success by regional standards. I can only imagine the following this would get in New England. In all, we drew 100 racers.which is probably how many riders register in the first 5 minutes for Gloucester.but numbers like that are huge for central NY, even for well established races. Despite (or because of! They could do a lot better for such a quality event. It was a lot ...

My study in distraction: September 2008

http://www.briancycles.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 30, 2008. Green Mountain Cross, Day 1. When I got to the course on Saturday morning, I instantly recognized it as the place where St. Michael's College histed a cross country meet back when I was a freshman at Clarkson. This was good, because all I remember about that course was the hills. Sure enough, it delivered. Four riders used this opportunity to get a gap on the field- led by Colin Reuter. But here's a sweet picture that Colin sent, via some other photographer. Over the next lap...

Sunday, August 16, 2009. Long story short, I think my cyclocross season will take a hit. I had a similar picture, Most comfortable position was sitting on a stool and forget about any good sleep. August 16, 2009 at 11:25 AM. Pretty sure this sets you up perfectly to place 3rd in the vuelta. But seriously, that sucks! August 16, 2009 at 2:11 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My study in distraction: November 2008

Tuesday, November 25, 2008. The weekend of Nov 8-9. Ok, so I fell behind again. Time to catch up. Long story short- tire pressure. Naturally I missed the call-up because I was riding, but I slotted myself into the third row, on the outside. Hopefully no one hated me too much for that. In my defense, they staged very early. I heard, "ten minutes to start" and everyone was already set in the grid. Editor's note: People all over the course were zealously cheering for me. I guess Jeff's relatively uncont...

LunaSki: October 2009

http://lunaski.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 26, 2009. It rained cats and dogs the whole way over to Boston the day before, and our checking out the course before dinner that day confirmed that things were indeed a little moist. That meant that things were looking like they’d be more messy than fast this time around, but it’s the mud that makes xc fun, right? Anyway I came around the mile at 5:30 (fast! There’s like 3 more XC races this season. Weeee! Friday, October 16, 2009. I know it's early, but I can't help being excited! There...

LunaSki: Africa!

http://lunaski.blogspot.com/2010/03/africa.html

Monday, March 15, 2010. Traveling to South Africa is rough: 1 hour to D.C., 8 hours to Dakar, 8 hours to Jo'burg. Not only is that super tiring, you've gotta deal with 7 hours of time zone misplacement. I've never traveled quite so far before, but it was worth it. The coolest part about the lion park was getting to go into a cage full of cubs and petting them. One or two of the cubs were cranky and growled at you if you got too close, but the others were really friendly and like their tummies rubbed.

LunaSki: April 2010

http://lunaski.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 16, 2010. Yeah ski season has been over for a little bit here. I've been biking and running and just plain enjoying the spring; more to come on that later. First, one last ski related post. At the end of the season, I received some BootBuddies. From aspiring entrepreneur and fantastic skier Laura Valaas. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). LunaSki: July 2010

http://lunaski.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 15, 2010. This is something like my 6 or 7th time running the Boilermaker 15k (I need to count up my pint glasses). I missed it last year and the year before I had a pretty bad race - 1:10 and feeling like death. I figured this was a good year for a comeback. Wednesday, July 07, 2010. Mt Washington Road Race. The big surprise of the day was that the GVH women won 3rd place in the team division. I knew we were tough, but that's awesome for a national championship race. I think there...

LunaSki: Lilac 10k 2010

http://lunaski.blogspot.com/2010/05/lilac-10k-2010.html

Monday, May 24, 2010. With all the early warm weather, by the end of the Lilac Fest all of the lilacs were dead. But the race must go on. This year featured a big purse and a very fast field. I watched the super fast ladies (we’re talking 33 min 10k) take off and then tried to keep with the fast local women. I knew I was probably going too hard, especially with only running one other day the week before, but thought that it felt like an ok pace to begin with. I took off with a couple of guys that were pa...

LunaSki: Mt. Washington Road Race

http://lunaski.blogspot.com/2010/07/mt-washington-road-race.html

Wednesday, July 07, 2010. Mt Washington Road Race. At the bottom of the mountain it was about 80 something degrees for the start. I was very nervous, especially at seeing how quickly the road pitched upward. I fiddled my way near maybe 10 rows from the front of the start with the other GVHers and got ready. The cannon went off and everyone took off on the only downhill/flat section of the entire race. And then we started going up. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

LunaSki: November 2009

http://lunaski.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Tuesday, November 17, 2009. I don't even know where to start with this one. I had a bad running race a couple of weeks ago (hence no posting) and I got all down with a major "I hate running" attitude. Why is it that you can never be completely happy with a race, but if you have a bad one it's absolutely horrible. So I can't say I was super thrilled coming into this race. Last race of the season in NY. Not feeling really into it. Forgot my socks. Hey but it's almost time to ski! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

LunaSki: February 2010

http://lunaski.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. Yikes Ski season is over? How did that happen? A couple of reasons I haven't been writing here:. Got sick of talking about myself. Most race reports sound the same, and the bad ones are just sad. My computer broke (and since I'm a luddite it's still broken). I've been trying to finally graduate from school. So the quick recap:.
