The actual writing – BRIAN HOADLEY

http://www.brianhoadley.com/2011/05/23/the-actual-writing

So, I’ve written about 5 chapters now – including, funnily enough, the last chapter (which is subject to change). Having spent time getting the story arcs sorted for each of the three novels has been a tremendous help. Also, writing character descriptions for the main characters has been very helpful. The actual writing is going well enough, though I’d like to be a bit further along by now. How in the world do you just keep your head down and not get distracted? Herring Cove, 1997. Story arcs – BRIAN HOADLEY

http://www.brianhoadley.com/2011/05/07/story-arcs

So I’ve now developed the high-level story arcs for the 3 novels – which gives me a great deal more context for the writing I’ve already done on the first novel. I know the beginning and endings of all three novels as well. Friends have asked me about having that too defined up front. They are defined enough for me to understand the shapes of the novels, and also to be able to get the pacing and rhythm right. The majority of the detail will come in the writing. 32000 words and counting. Herring Cove, 1997.

How Social Media is Rewiring the Human Brain – Windahl

http://windahl.com/2012/03/how-social-media-is-rewiring-the-human-brain

How Social Media is Rewiring the Human Brain. The way we consume information effects our brains. This is not science fiction but the result of several studies of the effect of social media on the brain. There is a deep concern that the these changes may cause problems with concentration and that the younger generation will be less likely to undertake deep, critical analysis of issues and challenging information. Taken from the mind development stages by Dr Gregory Mitchell:. Those who bemoan the perceive...

Ground Hog Day UX Crazy Style – Windahl

http://windahl.com/2012/02/ground-hog-day-ux-crazy-style

Ground Hog Day UX Crazy Style. The UX Crazies are so focused on the UI they completely miss the point. This year UX has really grown up. We have had convergence, gamification, tablets, internet TV, handheld scanners (and all manner of devices) and now we are truly in the Pervasive UX. The UX community has really come together and it is all about collaboration and working towards a UX Manifesto as well as better credentials and education. Has started and with it Disruption. UI is not UX. This misunderstan...

Brian Hoadley

Consultant, Entrepreneur, Writer. Monday, September 07, 2009. A brief response to a complex question. I want to briefly address a question I get asked quite often by friends and family in the UK and the U.S.:. 8216;Do you ever plan to move back to the U.S? The short response is, well, no. Now, before the derision begins, let me explain. 8217; It confronts my determination and my beliefs. It questions my loyalty and my convictions. I live where I am welcome and that is enough for me.
