If you can read this, the internet works. Recovering files from a Mac with Target Disk Mode and no other Macs. December 14, 2012. Recently I was tasked with doing data recovery from an iMac that had corrupted the operating system to the point that it would not boot even into safe mode. Apple has been pretty ingenious as to recovery tools, my new favorite is Target Disk Mode. IMacs are not so easy, you need special tools, suction cups and patience considering how difficult. It is to get at the drive.
