Marvel's The Avengers - Review. Was released on May 4, 2012 just three weeks ago and it has already raked in nearly one billion dollars in worldwide ticket sales. The third weekend's haul according to Variety. This is indeed convenient, but the extra money per ticket is irksome considering the already high price.). The movie moves at a fast pace for two hours and twenty minutes with plenty of superhero feats of strength, teamwork, and lots of humor. Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey, Jr. gets m...Since...

Iron Man 2 - Two Times the Fun. Iron Man, of Marvel comics fame, is a cool super hero. His weapons and abilities are cool. His mask is cool. Even his colors are cool. He's an almost perfect super hero. Except when he's drunk. Just check your smell-tester at the theater door of the latest Iron Man movie. Well, if you're going to a movie in this genre, you probably know that ahead of time. And he doesn't disappoint here. I would definitely see this again and will buy the Blu-Ray disc. 77 out of 10 stars.

The Big Year - Review. Is a movie as much (or more) about relationships as it is about birding (birdwatching). In fact, birding is just the substrate onto which the character relationships and comedy are built. They do not disappoint. All of that said, the birding component is not unimportant to The Big Year. Expect a family-friendly, fun-filled show if you go to see the PG-rated, The Big Year. Even if you could care less about birds. Posted by Brian Holmes. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Atlas Shrugged Part 1 - Movie Review. The movie Atlas Shrugged. Is based on a continuously popular novel of the same title by Ayn Rand. Published in 1957. Atlas Shrugged. Government policy for dealing with the deepening depression and poverty in the country. Unfortunately, and probably not coincidentally, the subject matter bears striking similarities to some of the policies and activities being pursued in the U.S. under the Obama administration. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 - Review. The latest and final installment in the fantasy film series is enjoyable, and action-filled with excellent cinematography, and fantastic visual effects. The directing and acting are also spot-on. But as technically well-made as the latest Harry Potter flick is, it is not. For children who are too young for graphic violence. The movie is rated PG-13 and runs about two hours. According to Variety.com. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. Schoo...

Thor 3D IMAX - Review. If you can imagine yourself in the lost city of Atlantis, or ancient Egypt, or the elusive City of Gold of South America, then you have some idea of how the mythical city Asgard is presented to the audience by the team who gave birth to the new “blockbuster” movie Thor. (Get it? Big hammer – blockbuster? Okay) But just saying that you can imagine Atlantis does no justice to the scope and the ethereal beauty of the cinematography of place and architectural wonder in the 3D IMAX.

Star Trek the Blockbuster. I saw the latest and greatest Star Trek. Movie today. It was awesome squared. My kids, (15 and 18 years old) who are not particular followers of the Star Trek series enjoyed it very much, too. You really do not need any background information from the series to enjoy this movie. Though it is a prequel to the original series, it is it's own, self-contained and engaging story. Star Trek is my idea of a summer blockbuster movie. I hope they make another one! Posted by Brian Holmes.
