Wanderlust: July 2010
http://brianrhyolite.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Reflections on religion, symbols and tolerance inspired by a two-month journey through Nepal, Switzerland and Morocco. Sunday, July 11, 2010. Arabian Nights in the Trinity Alps. I spent two nights up at these lakes by myself. It took me over a day to mentally slow down, to remember to breathe. At first I was so focused on maps and photos and so many distractions. But with time I was able to just be a bit more. I finished reading In Arabian Nights: A Caravan of Moroccan Dreams. On the Western obsession wi...

Wanderlust: March 2010

Reflections on religion, symbols and tolerance inspired by a two-month journey through Nepal, Switzerland and Morocco. Monday, March 29, 2010. And so it begins, as all blogs must. Over the course of the last few years, I've actively talked myself out of starting a blog a number of times. Although having a blog sounded like fun, who would read it? And perhaps more importantly, what would I say? Tomorrow I fly to Kathmandu, Nepal, where I will be meeting up with my good friend. Links to this post.
Wanderlust: Baraka

Reflections on religion, symbols and tolerance inspired by a two-month journey through Nepal, Switzerland and Morocco. Wednesday, June 23, 2010. I started reading a new book this morning, A Theory of Justice. Traveling, of course, I see as a way of learning about the world in a more intuitive, heartfelt way. I had a series of experiences on my birthday a few weeks ago, while I was still in Morocco that I think are a nice example of this. Here you can see the ancient ramparts that surround the medina.
Wanderlust: Symbols of Hetauda

Reflections on religion, symbols and tolerance inspired by a two-month journey through Nepal, Switzerland and Morocco. Thursday, May 13, 2010. I only have a few hours left in Nepal, but I still have lots of thoughts about all that I have seen here over the past six weeks. So much to process. One thing that I've been thinking about a lot is symbols. I just did a quick google search. A couple interesting sites popped up that seem to merit further investigation, symbols.com. Where my good friend, Tiffany.

Reflections on religion, symbols and tolerance inspired by a two-month journey through Nepal, Switzerland and Morocco. Sunday, August 8, 2010. I've been back home in Portland for a couple months now. Things have been going well. I'm happy with my new apartment and my new job. And at the same time, of course, this trip is still with me. I've been reading books inspired by my travels. Inevitably, ever few days or so I find myself making some reference to Nepal or Switzerland or Morocco. Links to this post.
