Just another WordPress.com site. Directory of Human Rights NGOs. July 20, 2011. We walked around Gaborone today. We went to three different NGO’s to find activists. The first organization said that they did not have time for us. The second organization said that they only provided services, and were not allowed to accept interviews. The third organization said that we must have a letter of introduction from our professors in order to do an interview. I guess you could say I’m frustrated.

Bonewpa’s main tactic is to host support groups for people living with HIV. There are 130 groups all over Botswana, and the groups meet once a week to offer support and friendship for each other. I think that this approach is awesome. It is something that is simple, and that fosters empowerment and independence.
