In reviewing the PUMAS webite, http:/ pumas.jpl.nasa.gov/. I certainly found very interesting applications of algebra in the “real world”. I guess I was hoping to find situations more related to the professions of the scientists and engineers that the summary of the site referenced, only because I have students each year ask, “When are we ever going to use this? I tried explaining how to factor a quadratic that had a constant before the x . This made things much more challenging. There are many more variables in play and a lot more trial and error in order to find the correct binomials. Haven’t posted in a while but earlier this year I had the opportunity to make a music video for Miya Folick. She’s great and you should check out her music if you have a chance at miyafolick.com. Making this video was one of the last projects I worked on in my old house in SCV and it was during a time when there were wildfires happening almost weekly so this is kind of a document of that time with a few Prince references thrown in there too.
