Doing It On The Road: May 2010
http://markandrenita.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Doing It On The Road. Sunday, May 30, 2010. It seemed that all the turtles in Minneapolis had been quite busy this spring and as we left our campground Renita spotted a snapping turtle laying her clutch of eggs. It didn't seem like the best spot as it was next to the dump station and terribly exposed but it was her spot and so we stopped the rig and ran over to take pictures,(As if she was going anywhere). Of course South Dakota had to let us know that her winds were only sleeping and by the time we got ...

Doing It On The Road: December 2009
http://markandrenita.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Doing It On The Road. Monday, December 28, 2009. Port Aransas and the Birding Center. Our daughter Jenny, had arrived from Minneapolis and we wanted to show her some of the Coastal Bend area. We packed a picnic lunch and headed to Port Aransas and Mustand Isand State Park. Our intent was to visit the jetty and then drive onto the beach at the state park. I threw in a couple of poles with some cut mullet but nothing picked them up and of course I lost both rigs in snags, but that wasn't unexpected. We...

Doing It On The Road: Escapee Friends
http://markandrenita.blogspot.com/2010/07/escapee-friends.html
Doing It On The Road. Saturday, July 24, 2010. A few weeks ago we got an email from Mike and Loretta,(Mike and Loretta are fulltimers who have been on the road for ten years), saying they would be passing through Wyoming and wondering where we were at. So it was really nice when we heard their air horn and saw their mdt and fifth wheel out our side window. It didn't take long before we were heading up the lake, with our destination being Firehole and Chimmney Rock. The trip was nice and we chatted ab...

Doing It On The Road: March 2010
http://markandrenita.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Doing It On The Road. Saturday, March 27, 2010. Spring Flowers at The Rockport Cemetery. When I think of cemeteries, I think of well cared lawns and tombstones. We visited one in Boston that was really old and filled with winged angels. I usually try to avoid them but Renita had been asking if we could go to the Rockport, Texas, cemetery and see the spring flowers. What a surprise it was! See the cemetery is quite simply filled with wild flowers, or at least seeded ones and they are everywhere! I could s...

Doing It On The Road: The Window is Fixed
http://markandrenita.blogspot.com/2010/08/window-is-fixed.html
Doing It On The Road. Tuesday, August 3, 2010. The Window is Fixed. Three weeks after a rock smashed our back window, the lady from DJ's Glass called and sad the glaziers were coming out to replace our broken back window. Soon their white van arrived and in no time at all the old window was out! In less then an hour they had the broken glass replaced with the new double pane and the window reinstalled in our fifth wheel. They made the job look easy but that's what professionals are supposed to do. The No...

Doing It On The Road(Part II): Truck Repairs, Rocks, Fishing, and a Show at the Barn
http://mandrbrackin.blogspot.com/2015/07/truck-repairs-rocks-fishing-and-show-at.html
Doing It On The Road(Part II). Saturday, July 18, 2015. Truck Repairs, Rocks, Fishing, and a Show at the Barn. We had a nice dinner with Matt and Patty and then drove back to our place at Star Valley. That evening we packed up our jewelry and prepared for the Arts and Craft Fair at the Barn! It’s the RV parks annual show and while it’s a small one it still gives us a chance to show our work to our friends. Luckily the repair was just a broken hose on the EGR and a couple of hours later we were back on th...

Doing It On The Road(Part II): January 2015
http://mandrbrackin.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Doing It On The Road(Part II). Friday, January 30, 2015. Kayaking the Sailboat Channel. You can always tell when someone is cleaning fish. The American white pelicans come gliding in and dominate the space below the fish cleaning station as the smaller brown pelicans take up room on the edge. Some even land next to you on the railing in the hopes of a piece of fish. Meanwhile gulls hover overhead waiting to grab a fillet carelessly left unguarded. Other fisherman arrived, a little blue heron, a white her...

Doing It On The Road(Part II): Floating the Salt River, from the Narrows to the Diversion Dam, 2015
http://mandrbrackin.blogspot.com/2015/07/floating-salt-river-from-narrows-to.html
Doing It On The Road(Part II). Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Floating the Salt River, from the Narrows to the Diversion Dam, 2015. After several weather delays the kayak group was finally able to float the Salt River. The morning was cold and cloudy but the rain held off as we unloaded the kayaks and moved vehicles to the take out point. The days float was from the Narrows to the Diversion Dam, a planned float of about two hours. Meander after meander passed as the river sometimes divided into three channels&#...
