Cantamus sing at Chideock Martyrs Church. The church has hosted many concerts over the past few years, and is considered a very suitable and attractive venue due to its size (seating up to 120), the excellent small organ and very good acoustics. Martyrs Cross | Chideock Martyrs Church

On the hillside, north east of Chideock village centre, in a field leading from Ruins Lane, a large cross stands to commemorate the Martyrs of Chideock. The original cross, made of Dorset Oak, was erected in 1951 by Lt Col Sir Humphrey Weld, on the site where the Castle stood until its destruction at the time of the English Civil War. It was renewed by Charles Weld in 1994 to mark the 400th anniversary of the death of Blessed John Cornelius and three other martyrs. Find the Martyrs Cross on our map.

Bridport Chamber Orchestra

We are a string orchestra of about 25 players, based in Bridport, Dorset, in a beautiful region of the south coast of England and normally perform three concerts each year. Our players come from a wide area of West Dorset, East Devon and Somerset, mostly within 25 miles of Bridport itself. The orchestra was formed in the autumn of 1975 by the conductor Bruce Critchinson. There are still one or two founder members playing with the orchestra, originally the New Elizabethan Players. 3pm Sunday 2nd April.
