I'm having an issue with one sleeve so I want to take it out and put it back in. It needs buttons and buttonholes and the jacket needs to be hemmed. Otherwise its almost done, however, so am I for the night! As always, more later! Carolyn (Diary of a Sewing Fanatic). February 15, 2010 10:39 PM. What a lovely jacket and such beautiful fabric! Granny Lane Sewing: December 2012
http://lauradsews.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 24, 2012. It's been a weird year for decorating. Usually, the day after Thanksgiving, the manger scenes go up, and stay up until New Year's. The Christmas tree, well, it's up at least the week before Christmas. This year, the tree went up first. And I wish it had been the other way. Those stockings piled up? Inn and that He's welcome here. Sunday, December 23, 2012. Christmas presents, wrapping, and other seemingly endless things. That's only a little over an hour apiece, right? And when...

Granny Lane Sewing: May 2013

Thursday, May 9, 2013. Pattern Review: Elle's Princess Twirl Dress. Okay, I was rushing a bit, so I didn't take many pictures, unfortunately, but Elle asked me to review her Princess Twirl Dress. I received the Snow White version, and thought it would be perfect for a birthday present for Nikki. (This pattern- an updated version of it, that is- is available at Elle Garrett Designs. Measurements. I need. It's the correct weight. The pattern doesn't give a weight of line, so I used what was laying arou...

Saturday, April 27, 2013. Welcome to the world, Alexander! He was born at 1:55 this morning, 8 pounds, 4 ounces, 20 inches long! Thursday, April 25, 2013. Yeah, I'm doing more decorating commercial pieces this time. But I've got more to do lately. Tomorrow, I'm going to sew together the romper, and hopefully, tonight, I'll paint one of the onesies. I love freezer paper stenciling! Wednesday, April 24, 2013. Anybody remember the My Child dolls from the 80s? The other things I've been working on for KCW ar...

Granny Lane Sewing: August 2013
http://lauradsews.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 4, 2013. Let's talk about raglan sleeves. So what is. A raglan sleeve, anyway? It's a sleeve that stretched directly to the collar piece. A pattern piece for a raglan sleeve looks something like this-. This is from Ruby Jean's Closet's Sweet Cheeks Peasant Blouse. I've simply printed two of them and stuck them together. Ignore my wobbly lines. I'm really bad at mouse drawing! Notice how similar it looks to a one legged pant pattern piece? Something, it will rip out. Next, we sew around it ...

Granny Lane Sewing: January 2013
http://lauradsews.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 31, 2013. We're a religious family. We're active in our church, try to live our religion, and firmly believe in the power of prayer.Part of me is hesitant to send this out over cyberspace, but I'm doing it anyway. Losing her would be absolutely devastating, so I'm gonna ask. Pray for my mom, Nadine, please? We need all the prayers we can get. Back to the point. One of Nikki's new Valentine's bows. From Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop. I'm not affiliated with them, but I do like some. Of their s...

Granny Lane Sewing: This year's models
http://lauradsews.blogspot.com/2013/07/this-years-models.html
Wednesday, July 31, 2013. It's been a while since I've posted. In my defense, having three kids in the house under the age of six keeps me busy. Add in the three adult children I'm responsible for and my 90 year old grandmother, and life is hectic. I've made a few things though- like swimsuits for the kids. After all, what seamstress with kiddos can resist making their kids coordinate? Isn't Alex a cutie in his swimwear? I certainly think so! This is Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shop. S Surf's Up Board Shorts.

Granny Lane Sewing: Brilliant basics: sizing
http://lauradsews.blogspot.com/2012/08/brilliant-basics-sizing.html
Friday, August 24, 2012. It's naptime here on Granny Lane, so while Nicole is sleeping, I'd like to talk about something I see people frequently asking questions about on the 'net- pattern sizes. Pattern sizing and RTW sizing aren't related. I can see the skeptical looks now, but it's true. Just because they're in 24 month clothing doesn't mean they're in pattern size 2, and it does not. Equate to 2T. The same follows for pretty much every pattern size! Height isn't really useful. Instead of height, ...
