Bringing along OCD . . . : Vision board for fighting my OCD
http://bringingalongocd.blogspot.com/2013/01/vision-board-for-fighting-my-ocd_4.html
Friday, January 4, 2013. Vision board for fighting my OCD. I created a vision board for inspiration in my ongoing efforts to improve my obsessive-compulsive disorder. I got the idea from Lisa at Two Bears Farm. She created a wonderful board. When she was trying to get back into shape after the birth of her twins. I already had some corkboards, so I used one of them. I covered it with scrap paper and then began taping up words and photos that inspire me. I also included copies of my fear hierarchies.
Bringing along OCD . . . : Finally
http://bringingalongocd.blogspot.com/2015/03/finally.html
Monday, March 30, 2015. A photo of Broad Street in Altavista. I think I took this on a Sunday a couple of years ago. I was standing at the library looking down the street. English Park is in the distance, as is the Staunton River. To get to Town Hall, where I'll be working, you would turn left at that first traffic light in the photo. I can finally share some news with you. On Jan. 6, I applied for a job with the town of Altavista. Last Wednesday, I finally got a formal offer. So why am I nervous? I̵...
Bringing along OCD . . . : Read, reread, again and again: Reading OCD
http://bringingalongocd.blogspot.com/2012/07/read-reread-again-and-again-reading-ocd.html
Monday, July 23, 2012. Read, reread, again and again: Reading OCD. But you can’t be sure. Did you understand everything you read? Will you remember it? So you reread page one, reading and rereading the paragraphs again. After an hour of being on page one, you get tired and decide to put down the book. You’ll get through the book someday. It’s only the third time you’ve tried to read chapter one. The obsessions and compulsions were affecting the heart of me, what I loved the best: reading a good book.
Bringing along OCD . . . : A lesson I have to keep learning
http://bringingalongocd.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-lesson-i-have-to-keep-learning.html
Sunday, May 17, 2015. A lesson I have to keep learning. Abbey on her stool under the window. We got some upsetting news about Abbey this past week. She was set to have her spay done on Tuesday. I dropped her off at the vet’s office on the way to work. Both her white cell count and her red cell count were lower than normal. I feel so bad for not getting the sample into the vet’s sooner. When the vet called me about her blood work, she said she didn’t think it was time to worry (easier said than done!
Bringing along OCD . . . : Catching up
http://bringingalongocd.blogspot.com/2015/05/catching-up.html
Monday, May 4, 2015. Hello, dear readers. I’m feeling a bit out of breath and overwhelmed right now with all the changes going on, but I wanted to catch you up on those changes. The big change is my new job. Friday was my first day. It was nice to start getting settled in. I didn’t have a lot to do because my supervisor is out of town until mid-week due to a family illness. But I enjoyed connecting with my new co-workers, many of whom I already know. I’ll be at the meeting Tuesday, though instead o...

My journey with OCD. Not Crazy: Learn about OCD. Academic Hoops and Hoop-la: Reasons NOT to Pursue Graduate Work. July 22, 2015. Because nothing says PhD like a beard and a mortarboard tassel. When I tell people that I’m getting a doctorate in English, I never know what kind of reaction I’ll get. Sometimes the word “PhD” dazzles, and they nod with widened eyes, impressed at my obvious genius – only super smart people get doctorates, right? 8221; is the most common question I get). Had to start working ha...

The Beat OCD Blog. Overcoming OCD One Exposure at a Time. Sunday, February 22, 2015. I was out on a walk the other day, and I decided that I should stop everything (not literally! The Beat OCD Blog: June 2014
http://beatocd.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
The Beat OCD Blog. Overcoming OCD One Exposure at a Time. Monday, June 9, 2014. Working on some tricky stuff. Well, I remain in the "final stages" of getting the house ready. I guess it's a long final stage, ha! I have talked to several real estate agents now, so I'm moving along. The house is mostly empty, but I still need to clean up the garden, and clean clean clean the house itself. That includes 14 windows on the main floor, each of which has a storm window. Hooray! The Beat OCD Blog: Book Review: Daring to Challenge OCD by Joan Davidson

The Beat OCD Blog. Overcoming OCD One Exposure at a Time. Saturday, March 14, 2015. Book Review: Daring to Challenge OCD by Joan Davidson. Last summer, New Harbinger Publications sent me a copy of Daring to Challenge OCD. What if something bad does. I really like a number of things about this book:. It has three "real" examples of people who went through ERP. The book follows all three throughout. I really appreciate when authors do this, as it seems more relatable/doable to me that way. I'm Ann, a 43 ye...

Thoughts on Management, Technology and Media. An approach to Scrum. I really liked this post from Jeff Sutherland in Yahoo groups. I believe in the approach Jeff mentions here and it applies well to my own context and works well. To preserve it and to promote it I am copying it here verbatim. You can check more on the role of Scrum Master here in Scrum Guide. Since 1993, every Scrum team in every one of my company’s had a ScrumMaster working on the sprint backlog. 8211; Jeff Sutherland. Bringing along OCD . . .
Monday, February 1, 2016. I have thought about this for a long time and done a lot of journaling and plain soul-searching. I have come to the conclusion that at least for now, I’m discontinuing posts on this blog. I started this blog in November 2011, and I’ve since made many friends in the mental health advocacy world and in the blogging world itself. I have learned so much more about myself and the disorder that I initially wrote about: OCD. I treasure each one of you who have followed me along the way.
