The Wandering Tops: August 2014

http://geoffnhels.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Just Travelling around Oz. 31 August, 2014. Middleton, Qld (Hilton Hotel) and The Bilby Way. After having the Throttle body on the Tojo replaced ($ $) at Charter Towers we started heading west in the general direction of Boulia passing through Hughenden again and Winton. The Corfield free camp, we finished up with about 10 cmpers this night. At 5 O'Clock the pub (community sporting club) is opened for drinks and a meal. We couldn't pass up on a beer and a $10 meal, "to support the locals". Decision was m...

The Wandering Tops: March 2014

http://geoffnhels.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Just Travelling around Oz. 23 March, 2014. After picking up the van from Melbourne we spent a week in Albury at the Albury Motor Village to finish sorting through the last of Briony's possessions, then it was time to get out of the hussel and bussel of Albury and shopping centers to find some quite free camps on the mighty Murray River. Bridge Hotel - Jingellic. The free camping area behind the pub, a little tooooo crowded for our liking. Gadds Bend Reserve was a great spot, around 10 acres right on the ...

The Wandering Tops: July 2015

http://geoffnhels.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

Just Travelling around Oz. 18 July, 2015. What a wonderful welcome home - our son standing with all the suit clad chauffeurs with two signs saying Mother and Dad! The flight home was quite rough at times however sitting third row from the back of the plane could have something to do with the ride! 15 July, 2015. After surviving the bus trip we caught a plane from Vancouver to LA then caught taxi to Santa Monica which took forever as it was a warm Sunday and EVERYONE was enjoying the beach. Settled in...

http://geoffnhels.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Just Travelling around Oz. 25 June, 2015. Alberta's badlands - Drumheller. Most of the trip to Calgary the discussion revolved around what we had seen and the passenger who boarded in Kimberley kept us informed via frequent updated phone calls to his wife! Both driver and passenger had never seen anything like this in the area before - how do you think we felt, as never seen this sort of fire power before in Australia! Hels checking out the stallion at Horse shoe Canyon. How cooooool is Hels. Dorothy Cat...

Just Travelling around Oz. 26 May, 2014. Gold and Sunshine Coast. Burleigh Beach Tourist Park, we swapped gum trees for the concrete jungle. Having sundowners at Burleigh on the hill. Curlew birds in the caravan park, normally hard to find in the bush. Inside the Bribie Island museum. Bribie jetty, just across from the park. No caption required, only check out my new friend Ace the guard dog. Alexandra Head beach looking south towards Mooloolaba. View over Obi Obi valley from Kondalilla NP. Even coordina...

The Wandering Tops: May 2015

http://geoffnhels.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html

Just Travelling around Oz. 30 May, 2015. In our travels we have seen lots of wildlife incl bears, ducks, squirrels, gophers, bald eagles, moose, sheep, bicen, beaver, coyote, snowfoot hare, elk, Ruffed Grouse, Stacy Jay (bird) to name a few. Before heading back to the Motor Home to cook dinner. Overall impression was not good at this stage as way too commercialized for our liking. Boardwalk in front of all the shops at Denali N/P. Another view of the resort village area. For dinner we ate Alaskan salmon,...

The Wandering Tops: February 2015

http://geoffnhels.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html

Just Travelling around Oz. 28 February, 2015. Eumundi camp, toilet block made from used containers and the mural on the side is the market body painting display. First time I have been happy to see 10 council workers carrying out roadworks! The fork of the tree caught on the LHS of the bridge and another 7 metres or so protruding from under the bridge on the RHS. Road blocked - patiently waiting for the repair work to be carried out. The back yard we were looking after. Thursday afternoon was the social ...

The Wandering Tops: April 2014

http://geoffnhels.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html

Just Travelling around Oz. 01 April, 2014. Upper Murray - 2. After a couple of days back in Albury to catch up with Briony and to stock up with goodies we headed towards Echuca. We had 4 days to get there for Helen's family reunion so had plenty of time to spend at some more free camps on the river. Camp fire cooking in Victoria! Coffee with Ursula and Michael, still shocked from the surprise visit last night. Police Paddock camp area. Great camp cooking - hearty lamb stew. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Wandering Tops: Calgary Stampede

http://geoffnhels.blogspot.com/2015/07/calgary-stampede.html

Just Travelling around Oz. 08 July, 2015. Bull Busting was the first event we attended. It was held the night prior to the parade and is a heat to the rodeo which runs during Stampede. This rodeo was held at Ranchmans Bar and seemed to be a corporate outside event which we were lucky enough to get some complimentary tickets. The crowd gathers as the sun sets over the rodeo. Quite a bit of action throughout the night. All the riders are introduced to the crowd. Young cowboys and girls waitin for the parade.
