The British Job: November 2007
http://britishjob.blogspot.com/2007_11_01_archive.html
Back to Britain after Australia, China and Turkey. Saturday, November 3, 2007. Time for Torquay Talkie. Our next British job - teaching a bunch of Swiss boys in Torquay for two weeks. Well, somehow this feels like the beginning of a new adventure. So I'm making another new start at Torquay Talkie. Go on over, have a look. Links to this post. On the Yellow Brick Road once more. Time to spend some quality. Time with the kids and grandkids back in Oz. This is the view from the front door. And so relaxed, too.

The British Job: July 2007
http://britishjob.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Back to Britain after Australia, China and Turkey. Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Then there it was. An acceptance for the jobs in Glasgow. We read carefully the information in the email - the pay was a bit disappointing, and the job was only four weeks, but it would be a start. As we were writing a reply Peter was joking that we would probably get a phone call from somewhere else now . and my phone rang. But we were in the middle of accepting Glasgow, and it seemed like a nice idea to go to Glasgow. When I was...
The British Job: The Emerald Isle
http://britishjob.blogspot.com/2007/11/emerald-isle.html
Back to Britain after Australia, China and Turkey. Friday, November 2, 2007. When we told Max we wanted to visit him in Ireland he said, "What for? It's just more of the same, only wetter and greener.". He was right, of course, but we still wanted to see it for ourselves. So we decided to investigate some cheap airfares - Ryan Air, in fact. Booking and actually getting a genuinely cheap fare. We chose to travel with only hand baggage - we were allowed one ten kilo piece each. However Peter's bag apparent...
The British Job: Out and about on August Bank Holiday
http://britishjob.blogspot.com/2007/08/out-and-about-on-august-bank-holiday_29.html
Back to Britain after Australia, China and Turkey. Wednesday, August 29, 2007. Out and about on August Bank Holiday. It was great to have friends (from Oz) Crosby and Susanne come up from Cambridge to spend the long weekend - not least of all because they have wheels and so we could traipse around and look at some of the sights without wearing our little legs right off (. if you know what I mean). Eyam - Plague Village. And she relented and let us in. "They're from Australia so I had. We also arrived jus...

For We are Jolly Good Fellows!: December 2013
http://wearejollygoodfellows.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 7, 2013. Jumping out of a Perfectly Good Plane. James' (son) birthday is very soon, Lisa (wife) bought him a sky dive. As she couldn't be here, we were minding the kids and recording the event. So, what is it like - jumping out of a perfectly good plane? Here is the place to go . And of course there are forms to fill in and sign. And now his name is on the whiteboard - "James. T14" because he is jumping out (in tandem with an instructor) at 14 000 feet. Now we have quite a wait. And th...

Brisbane Master Class: December 2010
http://brisbanemasterclass.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Living in Brisbane city while doing our Masters at Wollongong. Saturday, December 18, 2010. Studies finished, time to head south. Despite the inclement weather . it rained most of the way as we drove to Orange (NSW) to visit our old friends S and C - with whom we also spent time with when we were in the UK. We spent three happy days with them in their country-style cottage, helping them look after three little girls. Lovely little spot to recover from the rigours of study and all that! We both got all cl...

For We are Jolly Good Fellows!: June 2014
http://wearejollygoodfellows.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 13, 2014. A new adventure starts - in Northam. So we don't really want to go to Ningbo. (Although they have offered us jobs - six weeks later.). Northam looks nice, though, doesn't it? And there might be some jobs there - or we could just kinda retire .). For some people living in a place like Northam in the wheat-belt area of Western Australia would be ordinary. But after everywhere we've been, for us it is another new adventure. So what's in Northam? And, of course, there is lots more!
Torquay Talkie: I Remember Sidmouth Beach
http://torquaytalkie.blogspot.com/2007/12/i-remember-sidmouth-beach.html
Teaching English in the seaside resort of Torquay on the south coast of Devon. Tuesday, December 11, 2007. I Remember Sidmouth Beach. It's been wet and windy and cold for about a week . well, what would you expect in winter in England? But then, suddenly, a sunny day! So we hopped in the car and went to see Sidmouth - our favourite summer beach spot back in the sixties. So there are really two beaches at Sidmouth. There's this one, the first one you come to. And in between - wonderful rock pools. Connaug...
Torquay Talkie: Great Little Town, Cullompton
http://torquaytalkie.blogspot.com/2007/12/great-little-town-cullompton.html
Teaching English in the seaside resort of Torquay on the south coast of Devon. Monday, December 10, 2007. Great Little Town, Cullompton. So then my brother John dropped in on his way from Germany back to Western Australia. So we went to have another look at our childhood home - Cullompton again. It's normal in these little Devon towns for the main street to be called Fore Street or High Street, but we found this amusing. I got to have another look at the church . Yup, there's the alley. And Roger Vey...

Torquay Talkie: Winter in Devon
http://torquaytalkie.blogspot.com/2007/12/winter-in-devon.html
Teaching English in the seaside resort of Torquay on the south coast of Devon. Monday, December 10, 2007. When we first arrived here a lot of the trees were losing their leaves . But not the oak in our back yard. Then slowly, slowly we watched the leaves change colour. Those leaves hung on and hung on . Eventually, a few of them fell, and most of them gravitated to the pond. But then we had a really wet weekend, with a lot of wind. A sunny winter's day. Time to stay indoors. So lots to do on the computer.
Howdi Saudi: Party Time!
http://howdisaudi.blogspot.com/2009/01/party-time.html
Teaching in Riyadh, the next stage of our adventure. Friday, January 30, 2009. Right after our last break - half a semester ago now - we had a party at Dar Al Uloom. It was to celebrate Eid - well, the holiday we had just had. There was a (very big) cake. Underneath that perfect creamy icing, half of it was chocolate and half was vanilla. It was a bit like Alice in Wonderland eating from two sides of the mushroom. And then there were drinks. And lots of other yummy foods. Even doughnuts, and Arabic coffee.
