Saturday, 18 August 2012. Clapton Bassist Dies Due To Suicide Apprantely! Eric Clapton Bassist named, Bob Birch has past away after an apparent suicide,according to TMZ. He was 56 years old. Bob shot himself near his home past Wednesday though there has been no suicide note was found. There is also no indicator, at this time, that drug use was involved in his death.
