Jeremy Pocket & the See-Through Wall | Flash Fiction | Brittany DeBeeld

Writer Teacher Human (probably). Jeremy Pocket and the See-Through Wall Flash Fiction. May 5, 2016. May 5, 2016. Always the rebel, I chose a title from Chuck Wendig’s Flash fiction challenge. That *at the time* nobody had chosen. I wanted to be different. I still am different, but for separate reasons completely un-related to my writing or the challenge because I’m just that. Yup Let’s go with that one. Strange. Jeremy Pocket and the See-through Wall. 8220;What the hell, Christine? Easy there, Pocket, sa...

Writer Teacher Human (probably). Beatrice the Incorrigible – Flash Fiction. May 9, 2016. May 9, 2016. I’ve been DYING to write a story with a super-powered octogenarian antagonist for some time now. So when this challenge. Came up and I found this photo. To inspire a story, I knew my time had come. I don’t need a babysitter! Said Adriana, impetuously. Mrs Martinez scoffed, Where do I begin? Last month’s house party? You found twenty pounds of sardines. She’s eighty four. And actually, she’s pretty sp...

Writer Teacher Human (probably). Short story series coming soon! Here are a few pieces of micro fiction to hold you over. Please note: all micro fiction I post are exactly 100 words, excluding the title. Pain surged through my mind, ripping apart my head and tearing at what little sanity remained. The torture was too much. I longed for death. Please, make it stop, I begged, I’ll do anything! Hush You’re being overdramatic. And rude, mom replied. Or so I thought. Please don’t read it, please don’t read it.
“The Mesa Room” – Flash Fiction Friday | Brittany DeBeeld

Writer Teacher Human (probably). 8220;The Mesa Room” – Flash Fiction Friday. April 16, 2016. April 25, 2016. Today’s post is brought to you by the letter F! I love Chuck Wendig’s blog TERRIBLEMINDS.COM. Occasionally he posts flash fiction challenges. With odd writing prompts. Today, I let a random number generator help me select a title that I would use as the inspiration for a thousand word short story. For fun! And other F words. I had exactly 30 seconds to sweet talk the receptionist into letting me go.

Weekly Musing: What Is Critical Thinking? | DH Hanni
https://dhhanni.net/2015/07/18/weekly-musing-what-is-critical-thinking
Weekly Musing: What Is Critical Thinking? July 18, 2015. July 17, 2015. I wanted to touch upon the concept of Critical Thinking as I feel it is something that is unforgivably lacking in society. Everyone’s a critic but does that mean we actually know what critical thinking is and engage upon it? The dictionary definition is that it is a noun meaning disciplined thinking which is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence. When analyzing something, is your argument clear? Again, employ the gra...

Scribbling Scrivener Reads: The Gospels of Cal’eia – The Book of Dean by Calandra Usher. July 25, 2015. July 24, 2015. The Book of Dean. Is the first book in The Gospels of Cal’eia. Tetralogy by Calandra Usher. I wonder if this is something that is explained in the next book but more hints or at least letting the reader know, not necessarily the other characters, what is after her. Also, Sarah destroys a valuable object which surprises her and the four men yet again this isn’t explained. The book of dean.

Weekly Musing: Chaotic Mess. August 1, 2015. July 31, 2015. While I can defend and understand what other authors do, it is problematic for me to apply the logic to my own work. I have to be vigilant in telling myself I am in the beginning stages of revision and that I have never revised a novel before. Techniques I apply to short stories have worked but I am also discovering my strategy must be different. Scribbling Scrivener Reads: The Gospels of Cal’eia – The Book of Dean by Calandra Usher. Weekly Musing: It. Has. Begun! July 11, 2015. July 10, 2015. At the end of February I finished the initial draft of the historical fiction novel I’ve been researching for years. I’ve taken the last few months off away from it so it can sit and because I was mentally exhausted. During these last 4 months I worked on other stuff; mainly new short stories, jotting down new ideas, and accidentally starting another novel. My self-imposed deadline to begin the revision process was July 1. Well, as July 1.

COMING SOON. MONTHLY BOOK REVIEW OF ONE BOOK READ DURING THE MONTH. Scribbling Scrivener Reads: A Skeleton in the Family by Leigh Perry. July 30, 2016. July 29, 2016. A Skeleton in the Family. That’s the first of two mysteries in A Skeleton in the Family. It was a brisk, easy read but still managed to obtain solid character development all while introducing a new series. And while I did thoroughly enjoy this book, there were a few things I didn’t particularly care for. One was Georgia’s b...It was adorab...

Weekly Musing: Ding, Ding, Round Two is Over. October 24, 2015. October 23, 2015. Well, I am done with the second revision of my novel. Hooray! This will be the last post about it. It’s a relief getting it before the end of the month. This gives me a few days off to rest my mind before I start prepping for NaNoWriMo. As before, here are some of the lessons I’ve learned going through the process of learning how to revise a novel. Realistic Expectations for My Process:. This ties in a little bit with plugg...
